That will make a HUGE difference, especially if you have an M.2 slot on your motherboard.I have a new build with 16gb ram, but still getting occasional lag etc; could be the 2tb barracuda hd--going to replace it with a ssd--wondering if one is better than the other?
It has:That will make a HUGE difference, especially if you have an M.2 slot on your motherboard.
Well, there you go. Assuming that there is no problem with your internet/network.It has:
1 x M.2_1 socket 3, with M Key, Type 2242/2260/2280 (PCIE 3.0 x4 and SATA modes) storage devices support*
1 x M.2_2 socket 3, with M key, type 2242/2260/2280 storage devices support (PCIE 3.0 x4 mode)
* when M.2_1 is operating in SATA mode, SATA6G_2 will be disabled

I always use Samsung, but they are pricey. Maybe Crucial? Too bad Black Friday/Cyber Monday are over - there were really good SSD deals.Internet (wireless) is 40mbps. I synced everything over to Edge and deleted Chrome; Edge seems to be performing better. Looking forward to that M2 drive now
BTW, any recommendations on a drive best for my system around $50-$75 500GB? Don't need cutting edge speed, reliability is first most.
Maybe like this: SAMSUNG 980 M.2 2280 500GB PCI-Express 3.0, Internal SSD - Newegg.comI always use Samsung, but they are pricey. Maybe Crucial? Too bad Black Friday/Cyber Monday are over - there were really good SSD deals.
Yes, those would do nicely. 970 EVO Plus is generally faster than the 980 (no 'Pro'). I have a 970 EVO (non 'plus') and it's a very quick compared to the 2.5" SSDs I had before.
Ug, I just had a Crucial NVME 1TB up and die in one of my laptops. May be just my experience with the brand but the drive was barely used and just croaked.I always use Samsung, but they are pricey. Maybe Crucial? Too bad Black Friday/Cyber Monday are over - there were really good SSD deals.
I almost added a Crucial NVME in my reply but removed it after reading similar reviews on Newegg.Ug, I just had a Crucial NVME 1TB up and die in one of my laptops. May be just my experience with the brand but the drive was barely used and just croaked.
I was going to get an MX500, is a NVME like the 970 EVO Plus) going to be as reliable and about the same performance wise in everyday usage?I have several Crucial drives, no issues (2 x MX500 and one P5).
In fact, when it comes to SSDs, the only SSDs that have suddenly died on me since I first began using them in 2012 has been two Samsung 850 EVOs.
Unless you are constantly transferring very large files (like if you edit videos), there's not much difference.I was going to get an MX500, is a NVME like the 970 EVO Plus) going to be as reliable and about the same performance wise in everyday usage?
