Eddie Van Halen Dead @ 65

A jackass of a human and to many bandmates, but a great guitarist, musician, and music. Saw the band in concert 3 times: Twice with Sammy and once with Gary Cherone ("self shuddering" at Gary). Always wanted to see Dave as HE is THE front man whether Eddie likes it or not.

What the holy fuck. RIP to one of the greatest guitarist of all time. Van Halen was the first concert I ever went to. Alice In Chains opened and it was right before Facelift came out. Such a fantastic show. He's the whole reason why I started playing guitar. Sad day...

Wow, really sad news 🙁

RIP Eddie

RIP Eddie!!!

also, Cliff Burton died on this day 34 years ago....

I wonder if Eddie was sick and tired of playing Eruption at every concert...he is probably thinking "Thank God I don't have to play that anymore"

wow he was .. YOUNG. And - that i know of - he wasn't one of those ridiculous abusers that rock has.

VH was very, VERY influential in the world of music, and i'm not just saying that. His contribution to music cannot be overstated; Eruption is still a rite of passage for every guitar player, and a number of his solos are considered fundamental knowledge for a professional guitarist.

.. and, i hate to say this, but he did help legitimize "modern" rock with his Michael Jackson collaboration.

Me, as a guitar player, VH had such a delicate, exquisite touch, which very, very few can replicate, and i think he will be remembered as one of the few greats.

please enjoy kent carl levi playing ATBL - maybe the only 'tuber that i've hear get to the same level as VH:
