ECS K7SEM BIOS- Phoenix or Award?

I bought a new motherboard and the BIOS module says Phoenix. So I contacted Tech support at ECS and they say Award and Phoenix are the same company. Is that for sure?

I want to update the BIOS after I get this system assembled, but I'm concerned about flashing a Phoenix BIOS module with Award files.

I need some help!

Award have been absorbed into Phoenix a while ago. Sadly, the old and pretty messy (from the inside at least) Award BIOS hasn't given way to the much better organized true Phoenix BIOS yet, at least not in standard desktop boards.

K7SEM 3.0 has an identical anonymized twin M810L, which uses an AMI BIOS if you like that better. Older K7SEM are physically different from M810L though.

I'm still confused. Is is safe to flash the BIOS with Award files?

I have Version 1.0, if that helps.

Well then download the latest BIOS for K7SEM v1.x from www.ecs.com.tw and flash that. It's the right one then.
