ECS K7S6A???

Anyone know when the ECS K7S6A is gonna hit?
Looks like another good board for cheap.

Here is a link if you have not seen it.

the picture looks complete. must be hitting early next year. the SiS 745 seems like a good chipset. definitely worth waiting for.

Sorry Pab, had to do this:

NEWSFLASH!! NEWSFLASH!!

It is confirmed - this is going to suck!

Go with a KT266A board and don't be dissapointed.

You crack me up, AZGamer! Now you're psychic (psycho?) and can see the future. Tell me, when and where are they going to get Bin Laden, if ever? Also, can you give me some hot stock picks for the new year?

Maybe ECS will just get lucky, they obviously have no engineering or design expertise, and produce just one good motherboard that doesn't crash and burn. After all, even Nostradomus came close to guessing a couple of things right among the thousands of inane predictions he made.

If ECS does indeed bomb again, we can all turn to VIA for a VIAble solution, can't we?

sounds like this mb will be a good one to own, but i will wait for reviews to figure out if the performance gained is worth the upgrade from sis735 chipset.

Perhaps an new nick is in order for someone here ... how about VIAGamer ? or anti ECSGamer ?

What are you guys talking about?

the K7S5A is a freaking awesome board. I've build 12 systems with them now and not one has given me ANY problems. Just because its not a l33t OC board doesnt make it suck. I'm running one right now and I love it. I'm upgrading soon because I want more OC options but my 4 month stint with the K7S5A has been wonderful.

You show me a board that can do half as much. with free lan and sound and SDR AND DDR compatability for less then $60 on pricewatch... yeah I thought so. I used to think there was a reason why I only bought ASUS boards. After the ECS K7S5A I will forever tell them to shove there $175 boards up there Arse! I'm hoping to never spend more then $100 for a High quality motherboard again. thanks to companies like ECS,Epox,Iwill and shuttle.

I'm sure there are some people out there who have had legitimate problems with ECS boards, but I have seen a lot of problem posts turn out to be something simple(weak PSU, cheap RAM, wrong BIOS settings, etc.). All hardware manufacturers have problems with their products, or their wouldn't be a need for an RMA program. I know quite a few people who have problems with Asus boards(myself being one of them). I have built 4 ECS systems to date, two K7VZA's and two K7S5A's, and have had absolutely no problems with any of them. Unless you've owned an ECS board, I don't understand how you could knock them like I see people do quite frequently. As far as chipsets go, I am very pleased with the SiS 735. I got rid of my Iwill KK266-R to get my K7S5A and haven't regretted that decision for one second. It may not like the new Radeons, but then again my KT133a board didn't like my SoundBlaster, and my Asus K7M absolutely hated my GF2 and was extremely picky about RAM. So I think it is safe to say that the VIA Gods seem to have their own set of issues, just like the other "mortal" companies.

Psychic predictions or not I want to know when this MB is coming out. Running ddr PC2700 @ 333mhz and keeping the AGP/PCI bus in spec. is an excellent idea. Stable and cheap, stable and cheap. Thats the best thing I can hear about a MB. Of course stable cheap and fast is even better.

To the ECS detractors, Why has every review I've seen about the k7s5a been positive or overwhelmingly positive? Same for the SIS 735 chipset? Even though most start of skeptical of both sis and ecs?

Don't forget ECS shipped more MB's than any other company in 2001.

the K7S5A is a freaking awesome board.

I've build 4 systems with them now and not one has given me ANY problems. I'm running one right now and I love it. Its overclocked my Athlon XP 1500 to an Athlon XP 1750. Not bad at all. Great perfromance, I I didn't have to upgrade my 384 MB of SDRAM to expensive DDR Ram.

I'm fine with ECS making a budget board, but I'd rather see the 745 in the hands of other makers like ASUS, ABIT, Epox, MSI etc. The chipset can overclock just as well as those from VIA so how about it? I'd like to see some RAID with that too!

Hmmm, bump a good question, get some trivial reply by a moronic ECS detractor followed by intelligent responses, but still no answer to the question that started the post. Dang.

First it was slated for a November release then late december but now who knows. Reportedly Abit's Sis 745 board the KS7 is scheduled to come out some time in January but again who knows.

I wish I had some more info for you Twerpzilla, But I just dont know. I'm very excited about this release though. I'm also looking forward to even cheaper sis 735/745 solutions. If only I could find some boards that had integrated sis video I would be even happier. I'm stronly considering the Iwill XP333 for my next purchase as I'm a bit of an OC'er but I love having extra computers around for gaming and the like. And I can sell them after I use them for a few months!

the ecs k7s6a should start filtering down soon since it shows on the usa ecs site. I would give it till end of jan or mid feb before you see it available everywhere.

Newegg.com has it listed for $69 + $8 shipping on their website here. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and you'll see it there - no stock yet, but you can sign up for auto-notify when it's available 😀

I'd say wait if you can until you get this board. Unless your mind is really set on the KT266a chipset, just wait until this board hits the market. Who knows, maybe both SiS and ECS are on a lucky streak. I'm definately excited about this board.

AZgamer or Assgamer...You are a complete jerk...

Throw Azgamer in the list of most of the other ppl who have had ecs and weren't competent enough to get it to work...You just be happy with that buggy via chipset...

I am very interested in other mobo companies besides ECS producing sis745 boards...I think if there is any truth to ECS problems was their lack of top notch quality control...The sis chipset rocks, but even half-ass quality control seems to overshadow it...

Hell AMD would look better if via wasn't such a HALF-ASS chipset designer...I guess that is partly AMD's fault for trusting their chips to obvious incompetence and a competitor to boot...
