The Shuttle SN41G2 has everything I want in a computer including smaller size. Is this a worthwhile upgrade from my STABLE ECS K7S5A system? The SN41G2 looks so much better than my enlight 7237 case, it's smaller, and consumes less power than my tower! Please, enlighten me since I've read every single thread on the internet regarding this computer.

Since you've researched it so thourghly you are most likely better qualified than most of us are to make the decision ;) But just to give you some feedback, I think the The Shuttle SN41G2 is a kicka$$ lil' system, I've only read the review here and @Hexus but as the AT article stated
Although the FN41 is clearly the slowest nForce2 motherboard we?ve ever tested, the SN41G2 is still quite competitive with just about any Athlon XP system you could build yourself.
, and the fact that should the on-board G4MX not prove up to your needs you can go as high as the 9700 pro (unless an FX card without that huge cooler comes out) makes it a great gamer/entertainment station as well as a competent workhorse. I'd say it's a very worthwhile purchase and you've already indicated the size/power advantages over your current system are things you're after so I say "what's the hold up? go buy it already!" :)

Well, the only way for me to buy this system is to try to sell some gear that i have...so i need to know if it's worth $370?
Also, I'd like as many opinions from others as possible.

dejacky, the nforce 2 board is a much more powerful board than the k7s5a. if you have enough current hardware to sell to make up for the cost of the case setup, then i'd go for it. mating that nforce 2 board with 2 sticks of ddr ram, a fast cpu (preferrably 333 fsb), and a top end video card, and you will have a system that kills the k7s5a even with the same amount of ram and video card... the future upgradability of the board is also nice. if you currently don't have a 333 fsb cpu, you can always get one in 6 months - 1 year when the prices are much lower. as for the $370, it includes firewire, onboard just about everything, an aluminum case, small footprint and a quiet system, so i'd say it is worth $370.. try adding up all the stuff that goes in it separately.

Hey folks, so is this worth 370? I'd rather throw down something under 300. But on the other hand I'm sitting on a bare AMD XP 2000+, 1 256 DDR PC2100, a GF4 Ti4200 (in my current box), a 120 gig SE HD, and TV Tuner. I could also toss my 48x writer in, (though would have to abandon my DVD-ROM. Any comparable Build options?
I figure I would have to spend
140 - Nforce 2 /w Firewire, etc..
10-15 - Heatsink
40-80 Case + PS + fans
190-250 for the whole shebang compared to 370.. Not a huge uplift for such a compact system..

Anyone found it for cheaper?
Thanks,

Well if you are questiong the Shuttle vs. the ECS, I may just be the man to talk to. My old system was built off the ECS board, and I just got my little Shuttle in this week. Let me tell you what, it's worth the money and more. The intergrated graphics are great, and the system case is a real eye catcher. My girlfriend and all her friends think it is so "cute". I also have two KDS 15" LCD's matched up with the system, and it works great. You will not be dissapointed with this system, if you have any questions, feel free to email me at: birdwell@intcomm.net. Good luck!

No.

It is adorable. That's it. Get a Teddy bear to put on your present case.

I really don't see why it would consume less power. 200W is the max output capability of the power supply, not the power consumed. It consumes whatever the power is of what is put into it, just like any other case. Normally a 200W power supply is considered inadequate for present generation CPUs.

The system is a throw-away because you cannot upgrade to a mobo of your choice, and the case won't take anything but the peculiar form factor mobo. This defeats the only real function of putting a system together for yourself.

Thanks KF, it looks like my mid-tower seteup will remain. However, I heard the p4 shuttle sb51g the other day and it is MUCH QUIETER than my mid-tower computer, so that is also another reason to upgrade.

why not get a combo DVD/CD-RW? dell.com has an awesome combo drive for $82:

it is a 48x24x48x16, meaning it burns at 48x and plays DVDs at 16x. i'm getting one myself.
