This is the lowest I've ever seen this board sell for... it's been a decent board and will probably make for a good budget system...

i don't know if duron is such a good deal anymore... i'd probably spring for a xp 1700+ if I could find one for around $40 shipped...

I knew I should have bought more than one of them back in July when newegg had them at $42 each, and there were the T'Bred at that time too! Anyway, that is a good price for that mobo.

As long as it's 266Mhz FSB, it should work.

The highest? Pretty sure it's a 2400xp. That's the highest 266mhz fsb chip I think. Just make sure if you are going that fast, flash the bios to show the correct chip name.

i have 2 questions from experienced neweggers:

1. i'm considering purchasing a motherboard w/ a rebate that expires 11/30... if i order it on newegg today,
will my invoice purchase date be printed as today or on the day they process the order?

2. anyone know if this board can handle a barton cpu and pc2700 memory?

There's a 2600+ 266 bus, but it's so rare. I've only seen that chip in some eMachines PC before. In theory, 2600+ 266 works, but in practice, the 2400+ is the max.

dude, if you are looking for a budget system, wait for the fry's ad in the paper. invariable, they will have an ECS board + AMD chip for under $100. if you live in an area without a fry's, move. don't move to southern california though--already got enough damn people here.

this is such a stable, cheap, sound board to build systems out of. I've been putting together stuff for friends around this board for about 2 years now. I know it's not the fastest out there... but they all have the same thing, so it's easy to keep tabs on the setup and stuff. Also, the thing is just plain CHEAP. Not in quality, but price. I hope they can replicate the success of this board with something for the x86-64 chipsets.

"All orders require 24-48 hours processing time before shipping. Newegg.com does not process orders during weekends."

The invoice you get from newegg will most LIKELY say when you placed the order, though, and you should be able to use that, provided (as previously stated) there is no hold up in charging your card. But if you are going to try it, I woulnd't wait until tomorrow.

mobo with rebate doesn't apply to the ECS but..the Biostar ..M7NCD PRO Retail or the Shuttle..AN35N-Ultra Retail do..and are much much better deals..I prefer the Shuttle ..free T still applies..black with silver/gray writing on it :D

I'd get the K7VTA3 v8.0. It's easier to overclock, and has a newer chipset (KT333/8235). The K7S5A Pro is fine, but unless you need to recycle PC100/PC133 memory, it doesn't have many appealing features.

The K7VTA3 v8.0c supports these things the K7S5A Pro doesn't:
PC2700 memory
333MHz FSB CPUs
ATA/133
overclocking in the stock bios

I recommend the K7VTA3 while I wish I had a K7S5A Pro right now. :p I'm in a situation where recycling some old PC100/PC133 memory would work out great for me right now.

if you need SDram and slightly better 2ch audio..the sis735 ../me shakes head sadly..the 10 dollars more(after $15 MIR) for an NF2 mobo is really a much better option.
