Has neone else experienced problems detecting devices on IDE 1 or 2?
Both the Quantum Fireball CX and the CDROM won't detect on this board. I have triend Master, CS, and Slave on both IDE1 and 2 and still no luck for both devices...
Do you think it's a bad board?

Feedback would be much appricaiated.

Thank you in advance.

Welcome to the forums o2nyc!

Make sure your ide and power cables are properly connected. Also check in your bios and see if your ide channels are set to auto detect. Do this by pressing delete when computer "posts". You can also try clearing your cmos on the mb.

Try that and see if it helps.

Thank you. I've always just read the boards but never posted ;)

The cables will only be inserted in one direction on but the mobo and the HD and both properly connected to the board.
In the cmos, i have set it to Auto Detect.
Also tried to manuelly enter the cylendars and blocks but when the setting is changed to "USER" it won't let me enter in the figures. I am guessing it is because the mobo hasn't detected the HD.
The Jumper settings on the HD is correct also. Never had this type of problems before on my previous builds. I am hoping that the board has problems with the quantum drive, but then again, it's doing the same thing with the CD-ROM.
Any other suggestions?
BTW the BIOS is AMI bios. Not too familar with them so maybe I am missing soemthing?
Could it be something that have to do with the ATA100 cables? I have tried both the ATA100 cable that came with the board and an old 33 cable from another board. Still no luck.

Thanx in advance

I don't know if you've specified master/slave. If you have change it to cable select. If you haven't do that. Also, try updating your bios.

Stick with the ATA100 cables.

I had an identical problem with a KT3-Ultra2 about a month ago, and came to the conclusion the IDE Controller was shot, so returned the board, and as i thought, it was.

Can you get it changed for a nice new one?

Yes it was ordered from newegg so returning won't be a problem.
After trying every possible combo of Master, Slave, Cable Select, and IDE1 and 2,
It's most likely that the IDE controller is shot.

Thanks for the help!

Also...

I'm having a little problem deciding between motherboards in another system I'm building.
can't decide if i want Epox 8RDA+ or SOLTEK SL-75FRN-L ;)

suggestions?
Thank you.
