Id go with either a 2400+ or a 2600+ (266fsb model). Actually I went with the 2600+ :)

If you are a little braver than I was you can go with any 166(333)fsb CPU and run CPUFSB at windows startup. My brother has a 2800+ 333fsb Barton on his K7S5A PRO, and it runs fine.

I had one of these with a 2400+ on it, but have swapped it out for a FIC AU13 because of an inability to get USB 2 working properly on it. This also gives me the option of using any of the 333fsb processors down the road, without cheepoman or speedfan messing around. Miss the PC-133 slots, though.

My understanding is that even with the cheepo and speedfan kludge, the board will not boot at 333fsb. If that's the case, then the 2600+ is the highest supported processor.

yeah if you don't mind doing some pin conectors then get the 2400 and oc it, if you want to do nothing of thw sort then get the 2600 and leave it be. you could get one of the 333fsb models and pin coonect it for the 333 and that would get you much beter performance but no garuntees if it will boot well or at all.

Don't know if you're still trying to decide, but here's my deal: I recently got a combo from Fry's, 2400+, and K7S5A Pro. I threw in a 512 MB stick of Corsair Value RAM (PC2700), flashed the BIOS, and ran the FSB up. Stock voltage, the thing is running stable @ 15 x 151MHz (~2267MHz). $128 for the motherboard, chip, cooler, and RAM.

yeah just get a 266fsb proc and get the cheepo bios (think that's what it's called) then just up the fsb as high as you can get it
