I've this K7S5A with duron 1.2 and 756 SDRAM and a Radeon 8500 64MB.
The all systems runs fine but when i run a game like NFS, the graphic are not as great as when i used this radeon on a P3,
For example, the wheels of the car are not rounded but hexagoal !
I can play the game without any crash with a very minimal amount of frame dropping but it looks so dark like i have no contrast or brightness.

When i watch a divx, the quality is ok but again really dark.

is it because of the specs? are those not good enough for even divx?
Do i need to update the bios or else?
thx

By Catalyst 3.1 do you mean 'wxp-w2k-catalyst-7-962-031202m1-012924c.exe' ? Because this is the version i'm currently using.
Also i forgot to mention i've XP SP1 up to date on this system.

That sounds like Trueform is not turned on the driver control panel?

Also try adjusting brightness/gamma for overall display?

divx, the quality is ok but again really dark.

Turn up brightness or gamma for Overlay? Or change those settings in the DIVX configuration? (You may have to turn off Yuv Extended mode in the DIVX config).

3.10

...it sounds like you want to turn on truform.

Videos being dark is common. You need to find the overlay controls and adjust the brightness, contrast and gamma to your liking (I find cartoons are the best for getting it just right, as they appear washed out sooner than a 'real' video will).

Greatly appreciate your help on this. I've looked at the ATI control panel and i do have the catalyst 3.10 installed and under the 3D or Open GLtab i see:

Truform >> always disable

Now, when i move the slider to the right (high performance) it says:

Truform >> Application preferences

Also, when i go to the Overlay tab, i can't change anything, everything is grayed out.
What am I missing?

Don't know about truform, but it surely would not be the best thing for performance.
For overlay...uh...wierd.
