A friend of mine gave me this board after it fryed two cpu's he had
any idea what might be causing it to do such a thing ???

I would love to make this work
I guess I might just pick up a cheap 30 dollar duron to see if it fry's it for me too
I'm wondering if some of the components responsible for the vcore are faulty
there doesn't appear to be any damage apon inspection, but if i can limit it down to a component I could replace it

anyone else ever heard of a board doing this ???

any bad experiences with ECS boards ??

😉 Ive used the ecs k7s5a sense 12/2001 with a xp 1800, it work great, fast and very stable . As long as you dont have silly dreams of wild overclocking you'll like the mobo. Also here in L.A. area fry was running a ad with k7s5a and xp1800+ T bred for a insanely low price. If you want this for a ftp sever, duron would be Ok, but with a cpu like xp1800 and a decent video card it not a half bad gaming system :Q😉

yeah funny thing is after this board failed on him he replaced it with the same board
got the deal from fry's like you said just with a 2000+

i'm just gonna buy a cheap duron and see if I can burn that sucker
I don't wanna risk my 1700+

I've not had that motherboard mess up a CPU -- though I've had some problems with stability on anything faster than an XP1800/XP1900 CPU.

No problems at all with XP1600 through XP1800 -- and I have had several of these at various client sites.

I'm running an XP1700/K7S5A Fry special here on Win2K -- no problems at all running 24/7.
