Solid board but use a good PS. You'll get lockups/boot problems without a decent one. DDR memory is easier to get to the 150 bus which most XP's can do on this board.

Use the modded bios at the OCwbench link above and it'll be OC able to 150 very easily and super stable.

Nice quiet cheap cooler for decent overclocking

wow! that is cheap... how much is shipping from these guys?

EDIT - i found out. $6.25 for either priority or first class.... $5.14 for UPS ground.... $8.46 for 3 day select. its not horribly bad.

Isman, no offense but re-read your post again. What in dickens are you trying to say?

PS: Very cute baby you have there!

thanks.

from newegg.com refurb page,

Newegg.com does not test any product, including refurbished items. Refurbished items therefore are only tested by the original manufacturer. Due to qualities vary between manufacturers, YOU ARE TAKING A RISK BUYING REFURBISHED PRODUCTS.
Refurbished products are OPEN BOX products that contain components that have been owned by other clients and returned to NewEgg.com.

so as i return these 2 (if it is in the time frame of 14 days before the RMA# gone), newegg will most likely put up for sale.

I got 2 last time it was on sale for $31. Too bad that both were no good.
missing C80

and for the rest, so far i got a Abit N7VM, has everything and work well, got a Epox Kt266A board (8kh+???), work well has everything like new. Tyan S2466N-4M Board and box only! no manual, no CD, no cable (almost think its a S2466N and update the wrong BIOS...), still testing, look ok .....

So as newegg said, "YOU ARE TAKING A RISK". In my case both K7S5A come with all cable, manual (althought not match the version), new driver CD, etc. The board look like is tested and wraped with new static bag. But if it is tested, i guess the job is not completed.

This board is fast and has very good value, compare to the Tyan MPX now i am testing... it post faster, hard drive access faster.... make me wonder why i should use a dual CPU setup.😛

i got just the board,
is there anything im missing that i really need?
im thinking the drivers CD might be the only thing i really miss, although im assuming i can find the drivers for the sis chipset online somewhere... can someone please point me in the right direction?

thanks!

edit:
is this all the stuff i need?
http://www.ecsusa.com/ecsusa/www.ecs.com.tw/download/index_driver_k7s.htm
im sorry about all the questions, but i remember having a lot of problems in the past while fixing friend's computers that didnt have drivers for their motherboards

Is anyone running this board in with an Enlight 250W power supply and/or Voodoo5 without problems. Need to replace my dead BX mobo.

That looks right to me.

I'm running a V5 and a 250w ps in my wife's puter with no probs. Rock solid. 🙂

try the ocworkbench.com/ecs
they have all the info, including Overclock bios and FAQ.

That forum really take off because of this ECS K7S5A and many of them are problem solving posts.

Heh, i picked up the retail K7S5A when the "blow out" special first came out, along with an 1800+ (also replacing my P3 700 @ 933). Works great, though i needed a new power supply. Yesterday i got brave and tried the overclocking bios thats available and overclocked my 1800+ to 1.64 ghz, almost a 2000+. Working fine too with AMD's retail fan at around 51 deg C, only 1 more degree than at stock speed
