I guess it's a good deal for what you get, however I'd probably get a refurb Epox 8KHA+ although there's a little more risk involved.

This is a hot deals forum, opinions are welcome here because first of all who determines what makes a deal hot?
I think you need to stop being so negative towards others sharing their experiences.

We are contributing which is far more than what you are doing.
No one said anything bad about the boards, I'm running one in my main rig right now, probably had another two or three, for some reason I just keep going back to them because of the price,
just bought another one from newegg refurbe'd that ended up being a retail box for 31.00 shipped, that my friend is HOT.

Lately, I only buy motherboads from Newegg's refurb section and never look at anywhere else, but I have been missing getting ECS K7S5A.

I have been quite lucky with their refurbed boards, although they have once shipped mw a totally dead refurbed powersupply. Good thing is that they even credit you the return shipping charge if you fax them the shipping receipt.

While that is true to a certain extent, we don't need to see posts that more or less say things like "ECS sux0rs" or "Why don't you just build an Intel system?" These kind of comments contribute nothing. There's a huge difference between giving a heads-up about potential quirks in a product and just palin being an ass.

Anyway, to those thinking about using this motherboard, if you are going to put the K7S5A into a midtower case try to get one that has some good space between the drive cages and the motherboard tray. If the case is too narrow or too shallow you will not be able to use all the 5-1/4" bays because the SDRAM slots and a few capacitors get in the way.

Other than that, I've had no real problems with these boards and $54 shipped is a pretty good price for a new board with all the accessories included. 😉

IMO

The K7S5A when it was released was a stellar item.

However since then more boards have come out that have integrated video that (SOME have modest 3D) are good 2D.

These come to mind from a friend using newegg.

Check for the ones that have AGP slots available for upgrades.

I think the Gigabyte were rather desirable

PS I'm using a K7S5A right now on Linex Redhat 6.2 just the sound doesn't work but version 7.3 or higher might work fine.

Know that the K7S5A requires a quality power supply. The money you save on the mobo should go towards a power supply. If you have an existing PS, try using that one. If it works, great! Otherwise, you'll need a PS.

Do a search in the motherboard forum and you'll see what I mean.
