I know, I am building a htpc and ordered it today, I was looking at it for a few days and price AR was $35 + $3 shipping, I knew eventually it will ship free, today not only that, but price dropped another $5!!, ordered G530 from Amazon, have everything else left over from other builds... will be busy this weekend!!!

Just be aware that sometimes hefty rebates have a 2-tier payment system. Get full rebate in 8 - 10 weeks or cut rebate by $3 and receive it far sooner.

I sent in a Gigabyte motherboard $10 rebate and decided to takle $1 less and got $9 in 2 weeks.

That said, I'm in!

Thanks OP

Why is everyone on Newegg pairing this up with a G530? Would a 2100 not work well with this board? Very tempting to get into a pretty powerful dual-core system for ~$150.

Depends on what you want to do... for cheap HTPC, cheap mobo cheap CPU... they go well together... its a H61, not the latest and greatest chipset, an i3 can really use a H67 or Z86...

my 2 cents...

You could put a 2700k in it if you want.

Probably because that's all most people need for a non-gaming system, and most gaming builds on Newegg start with a Z68 so they can upgrade the CPU to a K later even if it's something slower to start with.

Great find DesiPower. If I needed another PC this would be a good starting point.

HTPC usually means 24/7/365 so low power saves money, and as long as it plays media smoothly, more power is wasted.

this board, a g620, and a cheap ssd makes a very fast and smooth pc for anything but gaming... plays 1080p .mkv's with no problem... can't beat for power consumption and price... got one of the asrock u3s3 ones to get usb3 and gb lan, but it was 75% more $$$... this board is the k7s5a of socket 1155...

That is real close to the Gigabyte H61M-S2H that I picked for my future HTPC (with G620,) the only thing its lacking is a DVI port and a Gb LAN port. Sure is tempting at that price.

I got a combo deal a couple days ago for $110-$25 mir = $85. I got the mobo and a G620 cpu. To bad the mobo doesn't have at least the base clock option available. Its there but grayed out for some reason. I was hoping to get an extra 100mhz out of it. :)

common dude, for $25 you really gonna complain about that... I am using wireless anyways...

Motherboard is cheap, after rebate, its used with a full system of other parts, so a $310 box of stuff needs to be not that much worse than a $335 box of stuff. Lack of gigabit would be a deal killer for me, too little $ more to have it.
