Whats with all this hate for ECS products? They have always supplied solid motherboards and their warranty for video cards isn't too bad either.

3 year warranty according to their site.

so why you using a dfi mobo if ecs is so solid!? we all know they are budget crap i bet the gfx card is fine but thats because you cant screw up to much.. heatsink on it is very cool and wont have to mod it or void warranty by modding the heatsink..


ecs mobos are so good that fry's gives them away for free! e7200 retail price 129$.. frys price with ecs mobo 129$!


Knock off with the threadcrapping. If you don't like ECS products, stay out of the thread.
Next threadcrap in this thread gets a vacation.

So long as the overall card isn't differing from the reference design, I don't know that the vendor/manufacturer matters so much...Except perhaps for support and RMA.

They sell general merchandise like perfumes, furniture & other stuff. I found them through a newegg newsletter in an email. That's how I know they are legit and supported by newegg themselves. I think they are trying to barge into amazon's territory. Newegg may be one of the few that could step in the ring with amazon and not get squashed. Time will tell.

That thing isn't updated. I swapped over to C2D. I have bought well over 30 combos from fry's and I haven't heard from any of my friends or family that their computer has broken or anything.

They are solid boards, they're just not good for overclocking.

ECS makes solid boards for non-OC use. Sometimes their boards OC decently.

I have one of these in the wife's PC and it works great.

I've personally never had a single problem with an ECS product *shrug*

Oh wow that brings back memories. I totally used the k7s5a back in the day. Didnt toms hardware guide recommend it?! Never had any problems with that board at all.
 
In contrast to the threadcrapping, I'm pretty sure that (especially these silent) ECS video cards are often running better than their reference design counterparts.

I was seriously considering this, but I can't bring myself to upgrade after only having my 8600gts for a year.

(I'm a big fan of silent video cards).
 
Yep, as dds14u said, this is a pretty good deal on a SILENT video card.

I'm tempted to pick one up but will wait around until August when I upgrade my PSU (damn secondaries leaked - still runs but I don't trust it 🙁)

You should get rid of that PSU immediately or you risk your entire system...

I'm also a sucker for silent video cards...unfortunately, my current video card is not so silent any more 🙁 (AC Silencer NV5R3 - lots of bearing noise making a "dadadadada" noise at random times).

The entire system is worth only a little more than the PSU I'm looking at getting 😉

Old Antec True430W PSU, modified cooling. Voltages/amperage all within "green" range even with one of the two secondaries having leaked. Given the power draw of this system (very low) even a crap 300W PSU would run it fine. Any important data is backed up to external/USB so frankly it's not worth the effort for me to replace the PSU until August.

Lol same here. I remember doing some fun mods on that board to maximize its overclocking potential.
