Probably coloring and real hair extensions added. Or maybe she got it micro braided. Which can take 2 all day visits to complete. $500 isn't much depending on what you're having done. My ex use to have salon visits that would last 11+ hours. $40-50 an hour for a good stylist isn't bad at all. And that's not even factoring in the costs of any extension or supplies they use.

You know how I know your gay?

I don't know much about prostitutes - never hired one, never considered hiring one, and don't plan on hiring one, but,

Did this satirical article include the maid costs for doing my laundry? Cleaning the bathroom? And bringing me a beer and a sammich when I'm outside working? I wasn't aware that these are services that prostitutes provide.

I'm guessing you don't have kids.

I assumed it was an equal comparison of wife to prostitute, not factoring in things such as children - which is an entirely different subject - and one that can be prevented if desired.

But I do have 2 kids - I have 2 doggahs :awe:

My wife and I are DINKs and love it. She is also super practical and probably hates shopping malls more than any woman on earth.

It's nice finding someone who doesn't fall to the social pressures of move out to burbs in over sized house, have 2.5 kids, a dog, a cat, have her be a stay at home mom, drive guzzlin SUV's, crank the heat to 74 and stay in debt till death.

So my wife is WAY cheaper than a prostitute, in fact she's lucrative.

This pretty much describes my wife. It's cold as balls here and I WANT to turn on the fucking heater a decent temp (60 degrees?) and she tells me not to. She wants to keep the heater OFF all winter long D:

From a sex perspective - yes, of course. But, you don't get married for sex.

Also, what about a wife with a career? She would make her own money and spend it as she sees fit, once the needs of the home (money wise) are met. So, it ends up being cheaper than going to a prostitute, when you have a working wife.

This idea of a man "taking care" of his woman is long gone. Women need to work today.

And yes, if a man has a house wife, it will be far more expensive than just shelling out $200 for having sex with a whore - since you have to pay for all the personal expenses generated by said house wife.

Also, even if I end up making $1M a year, my wife/GF will work - 20 hours at least, part time, somewhere doing something. Sitting on your ass all day, while a nanny cooks/cleans/watches the children is unacceptable. Unless she handles the housework herself,... but, it would be up to her to decide if she wants to be a house wife or a part timer/ full timer with a nanny.

Formula is:

P*Ny+(ym) / Wy

Where P = cost of the prostitute, N is the number of intercourse sessions, Y = years, M = annual STD cost, and W = annual cost of the wife.

If P is < W then hookers would be the logical choice.

I like it. This is a good start. However, somehow sex with the wife needs to be taken into account doesn't it? The problem is, marital intercourse follows a inverse square relationship to years married, so it makes things a little more difficult.

Cheaper for maybe gross looking prostitutes and if your potential wife doesn't work.

Maybe you're older, but a lot of women do NOT do these things if you're younger dating younger women.
I watch a TON of TV including a lot of dramas (ya whatever), and I've noticed the same trend in TV too. Women used to cook/be home makers on television. Lots of main character roles now express no desire to cook/learn to cook and no ability to do basic house hold chores.

Out of all the 100s of women I met in college, a HANDFUL could cook. That's one of my deal breakers (I'm not eating out every night, and I'm not cooking EVERY meal for a woman because she never bothered to learn to cook). That's what I found with college educated chicks though. Maybe they never had to learn because a lot of their parents gave them a COUPLE hundred dollars a week just for food alone so they could order out every day.

Lol. By this logic, a Fleshlight is an even better deal. Under $100, no STDs to worry about, no pimp backhanding you if you get uppity.

Of course then you're still just a loser meatbag. This time sitting in front of a computer, pants around his ankles, making sweet love to a piece of plastic.

This.

I dated a culinary arts student until she moved out of state for other school stuff.

It was nice. :p

Also, for those saying that it's "not worth it" I'm sure it isn't for majority of people.

The more money you make though, I'd imagine a prostitute is cheaper. If you were making 250k-1mil a year I imagine a prostitute, a maid, and a therapist would be cheaper than most wives you'd find and more willing to get the job done.

Who cares about cheaper. It's cheaper to live in third world places like Cambodia but you don't see people leaving the US to live there.

Well when you figure that you're going to take a -45 years of your life hit by doing that it factors into the equation. That's why.

In a household, there's some breakdown of labor - who does what. Laundry, cleaning the bathroom, vacuuming = my wife. Cooking (most of the time), cleaning the kitchen, and heavy labor = me. Just because no one is the homemaker, doesn't mean all of those tasks don't have to be done. I don't watch television; but from what you're describing, it certainly doesn't sound like reality for the vast majority of Americans.

This. I do all of the cooking in our house because I enjoy it. My wife hates to cook. I hate doing laundry so my wife does that. It's a win-win.

I think the first time I asked my wife to go grab me a beer was also the last time though. That must be reserved for a generation even older than mine.

Not to mention, I didn't say just "Cheaper" but I also said more willing to get the job done. I'd say for most of my parents neighbors, they'd spend less on a maid, therapist, and prostitute than they do on their wives.
A lot of them already have a maid/therapist, even with a wife.

If the only thing you marry a woman for is sex you don't have to be an ecconomist to work out prostitutes will work out cheaper.

You greatly oversimplified the Wife side of the equation. You need variables that factor in child expenses, potential divorce costs, flowers, Christmas and Birthday presents, whether or not she has a job... you get the idea.

Besides, the guy might ended up needing some P*Ny anyway if his wife stops putting out.

That is why the gluten or meat or GMO or whatever free women rock. Because of their restrictive dietary conditions there is no way they can eat out for every meal so they learn to cook pretty much out of necessity. Sometimes the -free stuff can be crap (like every gluten free "pizza"), but sometimes it is the same meal you would otherwise eat but with a small change.
