Econo System?

A friend of mine has been helping me design a new system. I am running a P3 dell 800 and want some more speed and power.

I orginally was going to buy another dell refurb but figured i'd build my own this round. I want to spend about 800 bucks.

I have read alot about the p4 1.6a but was wondering if the athlon was better or is it just your own personal preference?

I was thinking about this:

MSI motherboard (integrated sound)
512 ddr
athlon xp (not sure which one is best)
40x plextor burner
2 ddr video cards
antec 350 watt case
40 gb HD

I can get all this for about $800 from newegg.com and might buy the ddr ram and HD second hand off of anandtech since it is cheaper.

Are there any other combos that I can get. I do some web design and other stuff but don't need a super system and want to save a little money.

Cool, how fast can the xp 1800 be oc'ed to??? also, can i back down on the video, plus i have dual monitors. they are only the dell 17" ones. I hate to spend the money on new trinitrons or something nice b/c i already have the dells.

hey thanks again, i am trying to learn as much as possible before i order.

The way techonology changes, will i be able to cheaply upgrade to a faster processor with that motherboard???
