I have eccp installed on one pc on a network, and running... then I accessed that pc's hard drive over the network from another pc, and started the eccp from there (didn't install it on the 2nd pc). so I am running the same eccp install on 2 pc simultaneously, they both appear to be cracking just fine but i thought i remember something in the doc on the linux version I installed on my file server that running more than one instance causes problems..

anything i should know ?

It doesn't sound like you're running on 2 pcs simultaneously, rather 2 instances on the same pc. If you are running it from the same directory, with the same plist and eccpinfo, then you will just recalculate the points that the first client did. You are just going to be producing dupes and wasting your time with the second running client.

If you want to do it properly, install the client on the 2nd machine.

next question...

i installed the regular version from the eccp site, and it looks like it put an icon in the startup folder, but when i rebooted it i dont think i saw its icon in the systray.. does it run hidden, or is there a way to make it run completely hidden? how about the command line p4 version?

Ok, maybe it was just some problems with semantics. When you said that you didn't install it on the 2nd PC, I assumed that meant you didn't have any ECCp files on the 2nd PC. But if you just copied the eccp109 folder to the second PC, that is okay as long as you delete the plist and eccinfo files (otherwise you get dupes).

Anyway, before I try to answer your next questions, it might be helpful to know which O/S you're running and which client you got from ND (GUI, SMP/service, ...) .

you were correct, i did not have any eccp files on the 2nd pc.. so i was doing dupes, but I replaced pc2's eccp with this client : http://ecompute.org/eccp109/ on a windows 2000 machine

i was wondering if the regular eccp client (gui) non-smp from the eccp homepage can be run hidden (no systray icon).. OS is windows 2000.

With Win2k, you could run any of the clients as a service using FireDaemon. Your best bet would be to run JBerg's P4 CLI client this way.

The official GUI client from ND does not have an option to run hidden, but the ones from Statsaholic do.
