eccp problem

I've had eccp 109 running on a Win XP without problems until today. For some reason, it won't start now. When I double click on the icon the eccp window will pop up for a split second and then exit. Anybody ever see this before ?

Thanks

yer SURE that you dont have it hidden away? cuz thats whut happens when u already have an instance going.. check yer processes and programs that are running in task manager... btw, which client r u usin?

Nope, it's not running. With taskman open I can see it briefly pop in but then it dies. 🙁

I've got about 70 dp's on it, I guess I'll have to sneakernet them to another box. Can you tell me how to do this ?

btw : I tried reinstalling the client (windows version) and no joy. 🙁

Thanks

yes...to move dps.. you copy or cut the dplist file... not the log one.. but the other.... then.. go to the connected pc... flush al the points that it has.. then quit... copy the dplist file into yer eccp folder.. it should ask if you wanna replace a 0k file with a 3k file or whatever size it is... say yes.. then turn on eccp, and hit send ... just make sure you flush first!

also.. have u tried the statsaholic version? or the new release one? cuz i've had problems with the statsaholic version..

Thanks bob

It's ver. 130-2 I think. I've got the same version running on 2 other xp boxes and several Win98se boxes with no problems. Don't know what happened to this one.

thats really weird.. i dunno.. try wiping out every eccp file you have completely 😀 then putting a fresh one from eccp's site on.. then do the upgrade.. i have the two best upgrade files zipped up if you want em later.. and.. certainly you've tried rebooting havnt you? just for the heck of it...

Let me see if I'mfollowing this correctly. You are running the GUI client from Notre Dame on WinXP. Right?

Did the permissions for the ECCp files change? Perhaps you no longer have access to some of the files, so it is bombing out.

You also may want to give this client a try if you want the GUI version. If you don't already have it you, will need to get the cygwin dll. If you need it, let me know and I'll tell you where to get it.

MM, that was the zip file i was referring to.. i have the new client + cygwin.dll zipped together

and actually.. im puttin it in my sig in just a second

Thanks again bob. I didn't know there was more than one client. I'll install it in the am, too tired now.

Here's the whole story :

I checked this machine and noticed the client wasn't running. When I started it, it wouldn't start. I rebooted and Win XP ran checkdisk even tho it restarted normally. I emediately became suspious because this box is running one of the imfamous IBM 75GXP's. I then ran DFT and the drive checked out OK but I still don't trust it, there may be some wierd coruption or something. I've had 3 75GXP's and 1 60GXP fail on me in the last 6 months so I'm somewhat gun shy. 🙁

I just got the replacement 60GXP back from IBM so I might throw it in the box tomorrow. I don't really want to reinstall the OS but I don't want to fight a flakey HD either.

I'll post an update tomorrow. Thanks for the help guys. 🙂
