Which is faster: MereMortal's Linux client for ECCp, or the Statsaholic Windoze CLI client running in Wine in Linux?

Thanks! :)

I'm not running ECCp-109 in any Linux box, but from what I've read MereMortal's client is quite fast.

Maybe I shouldn't tell you this since you crunch for another DC team... but the first advice is free of charge ;)

Crazee, tell nagger that I am an honorary member here :D

I tried Linux clients before and they always were nowhere near as fast as the Windoze CLI versions. Don't remember if I tried MereMortal's though....

Unless things have changed significantly recently, anything that runs under Wine in Linux will be a good deal slower than a native, properly compiled, Linux version of the same thing. However, with the SETI client, it works better running a Windows SETI CLI in Wine than a native Linux version of SETI, since the SETI folks didn't get their Linux client compiled properly (AFAIK), and it is very slow compared to the Windows client.

Many thanks :)

I thought as much for the ECCp clients, but wanted to make sure. Of course, I'm still waiting on a final verification from MereMortal, whom I really want to hear final verication from :D

Meanwhile, and per your comments, it is:

/me continues to run the statsaholic ECCp clients in CLI mode in W2K. I don't think it gets any faster than that but wanted to check.

You'll have to wait a while because MereMortal is moving out to California ;)

He'll be back here until the end of this week
