Hi!

Why is the ECC2 team here so small? Just wondering. I've moved most of my processing power to ECC2, and plan to pass MereMortal and the mini-team at the top within two-three weeks, that is, unless someone were to crank up and stop me :D:evil:;):)

Seriously though, seems to me TA should be having a much better showing in this project. Anyone willing to help me prop up TA in this project? :)

I am a member of the mini-team ranked at the top right now.. I've switched over all of my machines to SETI due to the lack of challenge.. but since you have an offer.. :D

I do see you moving up there pretty quickly though.. and I'm not sure how to answer your question about TA's ECC2 team being so small.. since the end of ECCp (the predecessor of ECC2) a majority of members have switched over to the other DC projects.. and I guess ECC2 just didn't catch the interest of some people.. *shrug*

I'll divert some machines back to ECC2 if I see you starting to approach the top ;)

You must have considerable resources to call upon. The Dp`s for this version of Eccp are hard to make, my 1600 mp dually is only good for 120 DP a day. With D2OL, TSC. UD, DF, FAH, it is much easier to find a project that potentialy benifits mankind better than breaking a code. I only participate to get a chance at winning some cash. It is like buying lottery tickets to me. I can live with the team being in 6th place. ECCP is all about the money, nothing useful to mankind will come from this project. The first ECCP proved the math involved, the second is just an exercise. The computing power could be used for better things. I ran the last one, we are in 6th place solid that is good enough for me that is all this project deserves. I would like to see a lot more people make some lottery tickets for themselves. I think everyone should make a few hundred of these, you can`t win if you don`t play. $2500 could buy some nice upgrades. The project should take less than a year to complete depending upon participation.

It's true that ECC2 is quite difficult to find DPs versus the former ECCp project. Even with three computers running 2.2 - 2.4 GHz (all Thoroughbred B's) I can only give around +400 DP/day to the mini-team

Selling this project as a lottery is the best way to go. They estimate that 21 million DP are needed to find a solution 8.5 million found so far. The cash prize is 2500 bucks. Any DP can win past or present. Make some ! get a chance for your money back from DC !

Hey I just bought a used CPU on ebay so maybe in a week or so I'll have another computer on ECC2!
I have my office computer on this now but I'm debating bringing my other 2 from D2OL over to this.

Yes, I was in the original ECCP as well, with TNO. Just keep one eye on the rearview mirror and get ready to crank up because I'm on a mission. :) :D

I have a nice little home network going, yes :D (Not on par with the Crazee Cracker Rack, but the Van Daminator doesn't suck either lol ;) )

I originally registered in ECC2 with my email from my DSL carrier at the time, DirecTV Internet, who we all know has gone out of business a few months back....there is no way to change an email addy with the ECC2 people, so the kicker is that I still crunch under the old email addy, and if I were to actually find the solution, I'd never see a penny because of that! Oh well. I crunch on! :)

I have 9 XP 1800's and 1 XP 2500 and 1 really old K6-2 380 on the job :D

The DPs do indeed take much longer to find this time around. But so what? Everyone is playing by the same rules. And TA should be at the top, I think :)

Great! :)

I wish I could get past my office firewall, I'd add my work computer too.

Sometimes I forget how blessed I am to work at a company that doesn't really care.

If switching the server ports doesn't work, emailing your DPs didn't work either? I guess your mail server would require some kind of authentication...Shame you can't get ECC2 to use your email username & password.

I never tried switching ports. I can look in to that to see if that will help :) All I know now is that the original default install won't connect from work :(

I'll try to figure out port stuff tomorrow.

Here, I'll just snag this off ECC2's website.

"NOTE: You may now use DP Server ports: 23, 80, and 8080"

Hopefully switching will work for you.

Thanks, I'll give the port numbers a try, and if that fails, then try the manual uploader (never tried it ever, even in ECCP), and if that fails, will do the soft-shoe transfer :D

The only thing I liked about the manual transfer thingie, was forgetting about it for a week or 2 and having a nice little dump :)

I won't stop dumping :D, but now you can tremble in fear at devwat! :Q :)

I previously had my sights set on leading TA in ECC2, but with Dave (devwat) here now, I will reset my sights on #2!!
