Hi
I am collecting parts for my first homemade PC
its going to be an AMD chip and i want to use
DDR memory/board but i am confused about the
ECC type.What & why ? Thanks in advance.........Rick😕

ECC is pretty much just used in servers and is slower. You need a board that supports it, which most don't.

Ok while we are on the memory subject, why does using the third slot in some (if not most) mobo's force you to use registered memory. Also please explain what registered memory is.

What section of your FAQ's was that in? And I thank you.................😀, I have been enlightened.

ECC memory is nice to have, though. It's very useful for higher clocked DDR SDRAM, due to the signal integrity issues. Basically, though, unless it's mission-critical, you don't need it.
