Your sexual frustration is clouding your thought process. But it's ok, it happens to the best of us.

I'm not in my 20s, but interact daily with someone who is. Not sure it's that earth - shattering or odd.

I'm pretty sure my thoughts aren't clouded. For example, the number of people that think it's OK to wear flip flops all the time. Or written communication with extremely poor spelling and grammar, like using "u" or numbers instead of letters. It's not the 30+ generations doing it, it's the younger people.

I have a new idea. What if we all post on various places - here, reddit, wherever, that there's been an outbreak of Ebola in New Orleans. 480 people have gotten ill, and 370 of them have already died? While that's not quite believable by itself, toss in a "Obama told the CDC to remove any reference to it, to avoid a panic." "Government agencies are deleting the information from websites such as Facebook almost as fast as it's posted." Add in a few phrases like that, and the conspiracy nutcases will defy Einstein and spread misinformation faster than the speed of light. 🙂

I work with many 20 somethings. None of them do that.

I believe your problem is not one of age, but of workplace.

Even still, why do you assume that they will continue to act like that in their 30s and 40s? I don't freak out about the future of mankind because my daughter occasionally pees herself.

You're right; what's one 34 year old bed-wetter against the entirety of human ingenuity and creativity? D:

Too late. On Facebook there's a trending thing about the CDC about this and there's already a bunch of that type of shit.

The obvious analogy is AIDS. The country (particularly the gay community) did not take it seriously and it spread massively.

Better safe than sorry.

Pretty sure I saw this going down in a documentary of Apes taking over the planet.

It doesn't end well for us. 🙁

Not concerned. You need direct bodily fluid contact to get it from a person. Basically, don't bang or get sneezed on, and you'll be fine.

If it's so difficult to catch and only direct fluid contact, then wearing just a regular p95 mask, face shield and gloves would be enough right?

Word that Bill Gates is involved in the Ebola epidemic, something about world domination. 🙂

Blood-stained mattresses, bedding and medical equipment were taken from the centre, a senior police officer told BBC News, on condition of anonymity

"This is one of the stupidest things I have ever seen in my life," he said. "All between the houses you could see people fleeing with items looted from the patients."

It has to reach a billion before I'll be afraid.

And from what I heard, Ebola is not an air born disease, you have to get vomited on to catch it right? At least that's what the guy who discovered the disease said when he claimed that he would sit next to a person with Ebola.

CDC set to announce in a report estimates of 500K infected in west africa.

Um...

(Maybe the title was changed but if not then your post is kinda misleading as it seems to be implying there's 500k infected now).

could infect up to 500,000 people by the end of January

The CDC projection assumes no additional aid by governments and relief agencies. But the United States this week launched a $750 million effort to establish treatment facilities with 1,700 beds in Liberia, the hardest hit country. And the U.N. Security Council voted unanimously Thursday to create an emergency medical mission to respond to the outbreak, with an advance team in West Africa by the end of the month.

Vespignani and his colleagues project between 6,000 and 10,000 Ebola cases by late September.

Vespignani’s model assumes that response to the deadly virus stays the same, that the picture of the event remains unchanged. It assumes there will not be increased medical attention and that the spread of Ebola will continue.

As of Sunday, the WHO said the virus had infected 5,357 people and killed 2,630. In addition to Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone, the disease has spread to Nigeria and Senegal. WHO officials said those numbers vastly underreport the true number of cases.

Hah, who needs facts at a time like this? The thing to do now is panic!

To be fair, these are legitimate estimates being done by organizations that exist for this type of thing. I feel like their estimates seem a little iffy, and come off more as "HEY! World, we need to take this seriously and help these people." than I think they expect it to follow that trajectory (them mentioning the estimates are under the assumption of no extra aid and no change to how things have progressed seems like it's highlighting that). I'm assuming these are generally "worst case scenarios" intent on getting how serious this could be across to the rest of the world.

The worry is that this virus could become endemic to humans.

This strain seems to be less lethal to humans and is showing signs of being more suited to being a true human disease. The larger the pool of infected the greater chance there is of it mutating further.

Your virus has made the jump from animals to humans. It is still lethal and unlikely to spread. Use DNA points to make your virus better suited to its human hosts and allow it to spread faster than it kills.
