Prove to me that the people involved in this movie wont suffer. Do you know what PR is? Do you consider reputation to be important? Why are you assuming that I'm cramming money down these douchenozzles throats? Does it make you feel good to try and belittle me and the intelligence of many other people over my original comment that Ebert seems angry and bitter?

Jesus Christ, you are so fucking naive. As you have claimed so many times before--these people are in the ENTERTAINMENT Industry. They do what they do to make MONEY. Your lover Michael Bay isn't going anywhere soon, your brethren makes sure of that through ticket sales and DVD/BD purchasing. The least common denominator is alive and well in popular culture, as it always has been. Give yourself a pat on the back, b/c your so-called war on intelligence was won long before you ever thought you were fighting it.

and reputation? LOL. You can simply tell by the kind of content that they produce that reputation is the last thing on their mind. :D

Have you ever listened to Michael Bay talk about this shit? All he cares about is blowing shit up! He admits as much. He pisses on critics more than you, little one.

I see nothing notable about his life on wikipedia. I assure you that he lived a more pampered life and there are many other important non-celeb people that endured worse.

In the context of the OP and Eberts comments about movies, I stand by my original comment that he seems angry and bitter. I dislike people that criticize things that they don't like and it is especially damaging if a person with influence such as Ebert does so.

but he survived cancer! I'll give him credit for that, but I don't like his writing/critiques at all

Ebert can tend to get a bit self-righteous in his reviews at times, but honestly... with a movie like Sex and the City 2, I would probably find it hard to review this too. It completely and utterly does not tailor itself to men and we'd have a hell of a hard time understanding it... or comprehending why it even exists.

The complaints remind me of Ebert's review of Kick Ass where he went on some moral high-ground about an 11 year-old girl killing people.

Roger Ebert is an intelligent and well educated man who is paid to review films. Because he writes honest, intelligent and insightful reviews, he is very widely read and also very well paid. If you do not care for his reviews, go watch another crappy adolescent explosion-fest and leave Mr. Ebert to those who enjoy films made for adults.

Every time these threads come up I always have to say that I really like Ebert. He's always been a pretty class act from what I have seen. And, yes, his review of "Black Dynamite" was positively delightful.

Roger Ebert is obviously an angry and bitter man :hmm:

This is typical of the stories I have heard about him. A friend of mine was always interested in making movies (last I heard he is directing commercials these days) and when Ebert came down to conduct his film festival at Urbana (which was always worth attending), my friend got a chance to chat Ebert up at a Steak and Shake.

I don't really pay attention to reviews for movies I actually want to see.

For instance, Ninja Assassin had terrible reviews, but I still happily rented it.

Hmm, come to think of it, I actually only read reviews when I have no idea what a movie is about and am looking for something to watch.

Ninja Assassin was god awful and I usually like Asian-ish movies. Worst part about such movies are when Asian people speak English and sound so awful doing it... like Oriental Ninja Bots.

I have no problem with anyone's ignorance of Roger Ebert, and doubt any of the other posters here do; God Mode is getting slagged for dissing Mr. Ebert despite his admitted ignorance.

I haven't seen a full episode but I can sum it up for you. They're all bitches except for Charlotte.

Another thing is that the show fills women with weird ideas that well-off men will put up with bullshit from women who bring nothing to the table.

Oh it's not about being an Ebert fan. You can love the film to bits and I don't have any negative view of that at all. We were just jumping on God Mode specifically for trashing Ebert despite his complete ignorance of who he is. It's true I like Ebert and like his reviews but that doesn't mean I hold any negative views of people who like films he or anyone else dislikes.

The parts in between ninja attacks were sub-softcore porn in terms of acting and dialogue. One of the few times I just turned it off in the middle because of how bad it was.

He's not bitching, just noticing and making an observation; and he's not that old fashioned. Last I checked Ebert was the one who mentioned "gratuitous nudity" was something largely missing from modern Hollywood and that it should be brought back. :)

I see nothing wrong with that...

Yea the fights were stupid, nothing made sense, the plot was lame. Rain just sucks. the film sucked so bad it made ninjas lame. epic fail.

Is that a movie? If so, I really want to see that.

Or, at the very least, hope someone makes a flick titled as such.

yeah, this. Pretty much Garbage. Having a GF, I must say that I've seen a few episodes in my time. Charlotte was/is always the hottest, and least reprehensible of the bunch. ...But it seems that her character has not escaped the barrage of criticism in the reviews for this movie. :D

everyone should make note that MJinZ never admitted to an opinion of the quality of Ninja Assassin, nor his simple enjoyment (or lack thereof) of the film.

He admits only to happily renting it. I'm curious of his opinion after the rental. :hmm:

(Full Disclosure: I haven't seen Ninja Assassin. It looked terrible enough in previews to keep me away. Looked like it had potential for "stupid-but-fun," but my prior experiences with such flicks lead me to assume "mindlessly retarded.")

Good stuff as always. Kermode's rant on his podcast about this movie was pretty damn good too.
