Hello,

I plan to get rid of my PC that I made 2 Summers ago it has quality parts in general.

I was wondering if it would be better to sell the desktop as a whole or do piece by piece. It has quality parts, such as an ASUS motherboard, Santa Cruz sound, 512 crucial ram, Athlon 1.4ghz, Radeon DVI card...etc. Money wise, which would be smarter: to sell it as a whole or by component. Thanks!

I think i'd leave the motherboard attached to the case. Other than that, anti-static bag everything else and add bubble wrap. Should fit in the case snug.

I think he meant should he sell the whole thing as a PC, for say $400, or individual piece seperately, like processor for $40, video card for $60, RAM for $40.

I think you would be better off to sell as a whole but I could be wrong. Search ebay and see what the parts in your case go for individually and see how much it comes to and compare to a system similar to yours.

I have no experience at selling stuff online, but this came to my mind first: Do I want to pack/ship like 7 boxes, or just 1? I'm a lazyass, and I don't ever sell stuff online because I'll be a non-shipping bastard on my very first transaction. I'm glad PayPal and other online payment options exist so I can buy stuff from my laptop :p

What in the bejeezus was i reading?! Anyways, try to sell it as a whole--if that doesn't work, break it up.

Sell the components individually. People won't pay as much for a system that does not have a brand name on it. You'll make more anyways.

Ding ding! At least online. You may be able to get a neighbor to pay quite a bit more, expecialy if you clean it up good and make sure it is in perfect working order.

Especially if you have name brand parts....definately sell them individually.
If you're not sure, just check out the ebay price for an equivelant system, and then check the prices for the parts you have. I'm sure parting it out will net you more $...
