Ebay'er is upset that I won't leave feedback BEFORE he gets the item?

I sold a Gamecube Broadband Adapter on Ebay recently and just shipped out the item on Wednesday. I emailed the buyer telling him the item was shipped and he replies with this email:

> > Great thanks guy. But what no feedback? I think
>> Ive held up my end of the bargain.

I respond with:

> I never leave feedback until the buyer has recieved
> their item and tested it to make sure it in good
> condition. Once that happens, then our deal is
> completed and appropiate feedback is left.

Finally tonight I get a response from him that just blows me away. He's actually upset that I won't leave feedback for him before he recieves the item? 😕

Well I still dont think thats fair. I as a buyer paid
for and completed my end of the bargain. Remember that
if there is anything wrong with the item I will still
post the appropriate feedback wheather you choose to
retaliate to it or not. I just find it really fishy
that you dont post before hand.

What should I do? He seems like he's gonna give me a negative feedback even though our deal seems to be going great. I don't really understand what his problem is, unless he thinks I'm going to leave him negative feedback for no reason 😕 Other sellers don't leave feedback right after they ship the item, do they? They wait until the buyer is happy and the deal is completely finished...?

I think you usually leave feedback when they pay you.

I personally never leave feedback until they leave me feedback. I don't want to be held hostage after I've gave someone a positive.

I never leave feedback until the buyer leaves me one first. I used to leave positive feedback first and I got stuck with a negative feedback one time and there was nothing I could do about it.

I never leave feedback on eBay. I guess that if I did then I would have 4000+ positives since other people would more likely give me a positive in return, but oh well 😉

...there are just too many freaks and dishonest people on eBay that will try to get stuff out of you if you've already left them feedback. I wouldn't leave feedback for that guy now unless he leaves you feedback first.

Why is that? Sure the buyer has completed his/her end of the auction, but the deal is not completed until they are happy with what they've recieved.

no. do not leave feedback on ebay until the buyer leaves you one. there are too many asshats on ebay

Because the only part of the deal that is their responsibility is paying you? I've never heard of someone talking about waiting until the deal is completed.

Tell him "Fvck off asshole". Just sounds like he's trying to hold your feedback hostage. Do not give in and wait for him to leave feedback, if he does at all.

I got that too from a few buyers, they always want you to leave feedback as soon as they pay...well my wife just got burned because of that, she sold something used (candle topper) left the lady feedback as soon as she paid and the lady left her two negatives because they had a little dust on them, so my wife was stuck with two negs and nothing she could do, the lady didn't even email her to see about a refund or anything just threw up those negs....now I will never leave a feedback until they leave theirs, that way if they do leave a nastygram I can get them back as well...fair is fair.

I think it's gotten pretty standard that the buyer leaves feedback first. I do it and whenever I buy something , the sellers never leave me any until I do so.

As a seller I usually leave feedback after the buyer has paid. I feel they have "held up thier end of the deal". Personally...I just feel this is right. I have yet to get burned by this and have an Ebay rating over 140.

Just say I never leave feedback until the transaction of a sale is acutally COMPLETED. If you dont like it, too bad. In this case, make sure you dont leave feedback until he leaves feedback first. That will always give you some leverage if he were to do something stupid like giving you a neg.

just ignore him until the deal is over, then leave the appropriate feedback. he's a jerkoff for making an issue out of it.

Absolutely.

what's up with everyone saying not to leave a feedback until the other leaves them first? What if the other person is using the same methed? I believe that if they paid then you should give them a feed ASAP.

I usually expect sellers to leave feedback for me once I've paid, since I've done my part. Same thing with heatware; everyone is paranoid about having a stupid seller or buyer leaving negative feedback without trying to fix the problem.

If a seller never leaves me feedback first, then I'll never leave them feedback, simple as that.

I've never had a problem with an item on eBay yet, but if I do, I'll be sure to try and make mends with the seller before leaving negative feedback.

I really don't see why a buyer should be leaving feedback first; I used to do that and the seller never leaves me any.

So I've fulfilled my part as a seller once I hand the package over to the delivery guys?

No. It's completed when the buyer receives the package and is satisfied; then the seller will receive positive feedback.

if I am that guy with 0 feedback. F*CK YOU for nothing leaving me a feedback first, neg feedback for you and you are free to retaliate. I will jus start over. 😉
