ebay?

If you buy something on ebay and when you get it, the package is labeled 'not labeled for resale.' or 'for professional distribution only' is there anything you should do?

It is contact solution that was labeled starter kit. Nothing said Not Labeled for Resale. A friend of mine is an optometrist and I told him about getting this stuff on ebay since you can't find it in the stores, and the first thing he said when I told him it was a starter kit is that it is illegal. The company gives the starter kits away, they are not sold and should not be sold. First the person I'm asking this for didn't think that it was a starter kit, and they haven't gotten their item yet. I told her to see if it says not labeled for resale and that I'd look into what could be done if it shouldn't have been sold. She would like to find a way out of it since she bought 6 bottles for $50, which wouldn't have been a big deal if it was the normal size 12 oz and not the starter size of 4.

Only if you care. That is a moral choice you need to make.

you might have an issue if the auction did not state that, but i hardly think it is worth making a fuss over. unless it is software, of course.

It depends on three things:
Do you care?
Do you feel like you got ripped off?
Do you feel like it's worth making a fuss over?

If it's software there could be a reward involved, or you could just end up without the software or your money.

I guess you need to be careful since you wouldn't want to be in possession of something that was sold to you illegally (like software that is only supposed to come with the purchase of a PC- or something like that).

I bought a music cd off ebay that said that. I didn't really care enough to do anything about it though. It was only $7.

i wasn't going to resell it, I was trying to find out if anyone here knows ebay better than I do. Is there a recourse of action I can tell my friend to do if indeed the item wasn't labeled for resale?

I bought one also, a while back (may have been from half.com)..said something like that on the case. I think I paid about the same for it, though.

Heh - not when it's a used CD to begin with. 😛
