The seller probably has a basic account, and the buyer sent him a Credit Card paypal payment.

Paypal gives you the option to upgrade and accept or deny and not upgrade.
And OP Needs to chill the hell out.
Just cuz you purchased it on Saturday doesn't mean he has to get it out that Monday.

He may have certain designated ship dates.

He's bought 2 things on eBay since 2001 and never sold anything.. like I said in the OP. This would be his first designated ship date ever! If you'd read the thread, you'd see that the problem is that he didn't claim the payment.

I'm not an avid eBayer.. Rating is only 13 or 14. What is the deal with upgrading? Does he have to have a commercial account or something to recieve those payments?

And what is this "chill the hell out" business? I'm reading my original post and I don't see anything that would make you say "the OP needs to chill the hell out". Maybe I'm missing something or this is turning into another ATOT bandwagon reply thread.

Edit: Here's the unclaimed thing:

It's funny, every item I've bought on eBay until now, including from non power sellers, has shipped within 1 or 2 days. Yet most of you seem to think it's normal to wait a week for shipment! Yes, I should have driven 4 states over and paid $800 at a store rather than expect shipment within a few days of auction end.

Did you pay him with credit card through Paypal? If so, he will wait a few more days for the charge to clear before he can shipped it to you. :D

Was I stupid and unreasonable for sending the payment as soon as I won the auction? Should I have hung around for a couple days?

So do all of you who made these replies wait a week to ship things out just to spite "stupid" and "unreasonable" people like me? I'm not blaming the guy for taking long, I understand that he doesn't know how to work Paypal, so what's the problem here?

Ok, so let's get this straight. You are looking around for a relatively high-end item that you don't want to spend full price for. You look on eBay and there are several listings. The lowest priced one is from a newbie who has never sold an item before, and only has 2 feedback to boot.

If I were on a "tight schedule", I would look around for a seller that was reputable and knew what they were doing. I would investigate their feedback for comments about the time to ship, etc. You obviously chose price over reputation, and you are now reaping the consequences of that choice.

Hell, you could have bought it from this guy (2220 feedback), or this guy (6132 feedback), etc. I can pretty much guarantee that if you bought from a reputable seller, that your camera would have been in the mail by now... but you chose to roll the dice.

Moral of the story: If you are in a hurry then choose a reputable seller. If you do choose a newbie seller, don't be surprised if your item is not on your doorstep the next day. If you wanted that kind of service you could have easily paid a little bit more for it.

I probably sell the most out of the entire ATOT crowd, and I call tell you, it's a lot more than "twiddling their fingers". For me, there's a ton of organizational issues to be delt with, especially when I had items ended every half hour 24/7. I worked a deal out with my UPS Account and had things picked up for delivery every Thursday + Monday only. I also state this in my auction, and maybe this guy is too new as a seller to understand all aspects of selling. The most annoying thing to a seller is to have 10,000 buyers all e-mail him a day after the auction asking for a status or a tracking #.

Unfortunately, when I searched last week there were only 3 auctions for Minolta A1s, one of which was a Buy It Now for over $300. The other had an end date of a week away. It honestly did not occur to me that a low rating meant that someone would take long to ship...

BS. Surely it must have occured to you that every single eBay seller does not babysit all of their auctions... especially a newbie.

Next time you need an item by a certain date, choose a method of buying that item which guarantees you will have it when you need it. When you chose to buy that item on eBay, you chose to gamble on the delivery date. A week to ship an item on eBay is still considered well within reasonable.

It's like buying something from overseas, choosing the freight shipping, and then balking when you don't get your item in 2 days. Ebay is the "ground shipping" equivalent when you are buying something. You are not guaranteed lightning fast communications, or quick shipping, or anything. You pay less for that, and that is an understood limitation.

You want more service? Pay for it.

You should also look at why you got yourself in this bind to begin with. You decided you wanted this camera on Saturday, bought it that same day, and now expect it to be on your doorstep. You couldn't have known that you would "need" this camera a week sooner? Well then expect to pay more.

I'm still not seeing where this "take long to ship" is coming into play. YOU BOUGHT IT SATURDAY. ITS NOW WEDNESDAY.

I bought an item from Amazon.com last week with free shipping, they hold it for a week before they ship it.

Seriously, wow.

Amazon takes a while to get your items together for bundled shipping, otherwise it shouldn't take a week. An eBayer should not take a week to ship something, unless he's doing something wrong, which this guy IS-- He did not and still has not claimed the payment, and I know for a fact that he's looking at his account because he replied to my message! I can handle waiting, but why are so many of you acting like it's normal for someone to not know how to claim the payment? If I was suspicious and expected the worse of every seller, I wouldn't buy anything for fear of Nigerian scammers!

Now it's been 3 business days, and I'm pretty sure he won't check his messages until he gets home, which means no shipment until tomorrow at the earliest. That means thursday shipment of an item won AND PAID FOR on saturday. That's pretty annoying when you're on a tight schedule.

I agree with you that if your gonna sell stuff online then you should ship the day after getting the payment, but I certainly wouldn't buy from ebay if I was on a tight schedule.

who the fvck buys an item from ebay that they need right away? go to the store and buy it if you need it the next day. Ebay is not a store. Its is for the most part, people like you and me selling their items.

If THE SELLER had been stupid and unreasonable, he would have sent me an email on sunday or monday after not receiving payment, and it would have been taken care of already!!

Most of you would have had me do nothing, just because eBay is apparently the E in eBay stands for "Easy Street".

What the hell is your problem? You're freaking out because you had to send a follow up email?

Jesus, nobody told you not to email the dude, everyone just said chill out.

Life if too short to flip out over 4 days without a camara.

Bundled shipping? I ordered one product. If you use the free shipping, they sit on it for a few days (sometimes a week) before shipping. My point is that even HUGE companies take a few days to ship.

A) first off it has not been 4 days. you won it Saturday and sunday does not count. the only days that really count are Monday, tuesday and today. so at most it has been 3 days.

yes you are being unreasonable and stupid. IF you really needed the item ASAP then go to a B&M store and buy it. IF you can wait and want to save some money then you buy from someone on Ebay. you take the risk that someone is going to take 3 days to ship something. Considering Ebay gives a seller far longer then that then you really have no place to bitch.

Do e-bay a favor: Cancel your account, turn off your computer, unplug it, throw it out the window and go to freaking Wal-Mart. It's where you belong.

I always ship within 7 days, as is stated in all my auctions. Before I bid I always check the sellers shipping policy, if there isn't one then I bid knowing I'm rolling the dice on the ship date.
