<pessimistic> seems like a good tool for scammers. ebay users are dumb enough without having a tool that tells other people what they'll pay large amounts of $ for </pessimistic>

<optimistic> awesome for those that have wanted something like this though </optimistic>

Great, so we'll go from people selling their kidney, their virginity, or their cheese sandwich that has the face of the Virgin Mary on it to people "wanting it now" a kidney, somebody's virginity, or somebody's cheese sandwich that has the face of the Virgin Mary on it.

I'm sure the Associated Press and al-Reuters will be right on top of that!

I dunno... if I want to sell something, I'll put it on ebay. I feel less inclined to scan the "want it now"'s to see if someone's looking for it.

does anyone else think this will be too choked up with spam and lowballers to be really useful?

Many don't realize, this is actually the return of a feature they had once upon a time, although less organized. It went to sh!t very quickly considering these were the days that you didn't even have to register to post, or even bid (binding contract, my ass! :D).

They really should implement a 1-strike-youre-out rule for spam, or maybe even a fine straight to the user acct for misuse of the eBay site (I think they require a CC on file at signup these days). That is exactly how the wanted list feature died the first time around.
