Ebay==source of spam? (ongoing experiment)

I've been getting a pretty consistant amount of spam at about 40 spams per week. That's with "unsubscribing" weekly (otherwise it goes up). Of course, most of them claim that they're "opt in". The only difference between this account and any other email account I've had is the fact that I had signed up with ebay. So I closed my ebay account (never used it). Yesterday, I've only had one spam since. But it's too early to make any conclusive judgement.

Has anyone else noticed a connection between the presence of an ebay account and spam?

I thought I heard somewhere that there are just bots to scan Ebay and collect email addresses or something like that.

Yes, you will get spammed at your ebay email. You will also get spammed more when you unsubscribe because your address will then be tagged as "live" and sold to more spammers. Ignore them and get www.mailwasher.net
