How does it work and where can I get it? I've heard that it will place a bid at the last minute on an item? Also, is it freeware?

No, No. I know what Proxy bidding is. I don't want to bid now and get the other bidders in a hissy fit b/c there is still 9 hours left to go.

I heard that Sniping software will not place ANY bid until the final moments of the auction.

Don't bother. It won't help. Just use the regular proxy bidding, duh. Its not like you're somehow gonna pay less if you bid at 4 seconds before an auction ends...

I snipe manually :D
Got my bike frame by placing a bid 10 sec before closing.

I normally snipe manually too, but I might not be around when the auction ends.

Darn, I usually snipe in the last 3 seconds or so. 10 sec's is an eternity. :D

One time I sniped accidentally. I looked at some software and by the time I read the whole description, the auction had 30 seconds left! I quickly scrolled to the bottom of the page and entered a bid. The eBay server was pretty slow that day and the bid didn't go in until 3 seconds before the auction ended. I got an email from one of the bidders: "Prick"
lol

Yeah, I've been looking at that one. Seems cool :)

I hate snipers ... I believe the auto-snipers are technically against the EBay policies, too...

Why would you hate snipers?? There's nothing wrong with sniping. If you want an item bad enough, you will stick with it til the final seconds and keep hitting refresh:)...or get sniping software to do it for you.

I just place a bid for the max amount I'm willing to pay. If I get outbid, oh well.

Yep, same here.

It's kind of like buying/selling stock... You pick a "breaking point" before it gets near it, and then you stick with your decision.

That's why people overpay on eBay so much... They get caught up in the bidding, and the will to win, and they lose sight of the actual worth.

Why bid early with proxy bidding and get people all hyped up to outbid you, when you can use sniping software to do the dirty work in the final seconds of the auction? :) Either way, you still have your maximum bid set in by the sniping software...but no one knows you're even interested until they get reamed in the final 5-10 seconds:p

Oh, I'm not saying that sniping is a bad idea at all. Not doing it cost me an auction, the other day...

Nobody was bidding on this Red Wings calendar, but I was going to be at work when the auction ended. So, I proxy bidded, and lost the auction in the final minute.

Did you set your bid to the maximum you were willing to pay?

If so, then you did not lose.

If not, you should have bid higher initially.
