what a moron. that guy is a scammer. more and more people are getting away with this stuff every day. you'd think the brains in paypal would recognize this by now instead of siding with the buyer on every claim.

you should really have him photograph it for you. watch him claim that he doesn't have a digital camera. ah, well..

i'm sorry, jonny :(

You should have posted in your auction that the warranty for the PSU is voided because you opened it.

I agree with the OP but this guy ^ is right. Buyers are stupid and love to complain, they dont put 2 & 2 togeather. If they saw a pic on your site with it open they will prolly assume its not the one your selling.

I think you're doing the right thing OP, I like your style.
Don't give it another thought, and $20 is MORE than worth it to let the buyer know not to pull crap with you.

Caveat Emptor people, don't make assumptions about an article for sale. If you nee specific questions answered ASK them, if you don't it's YOUR fault not the seller's.

I guess we'd have to actually see the auction in question. It depends on the title as well as the listing itself. If he didn't say it's brand new or new, then the bidder is at fault. But anyone who has ever done business on ebay should know better and have a detailed listing about the item.

As a buyer, I wouldn't trust a warranty voided PSU. With that in mind, and if I intended to use it, I wouldn't accept anything less than a full refund.

Buyer is scamming, but seller's auction listings suck.

I agree with dabuddha as well. Any and all pertinent information should be included in the auction description. Linking to an external document is alright to give the buyer more info about the product, but not about the specific item they're buying.

Have you ever signed a contract that stated that some information not included in the contract is in a separate document that could be easily changed? No, that would be stupid.

Refunding his $78 is appropriate, giving him an extra $10 is obviously not necessary (but I would give you a neutral rating if I were the buyer). If you had included all of the information in the auction description, I'd say all the guy deserves back is $68 less a handling/restocking fee.

I think I've determined that I'm not dealing with eBay people anymore. They're all idiots. I've NEVER had these problems using AT's FS/T.

I just got a "buyer complaint" from Paypal.

This guy bought a USB 2.0 card from me for $1. $6 shipped. It actually COST ME $6 to ship it!!!

I shipped it a week after the auction ended. A couple days ago he asked me for tracking. I didn't have the number on me so I didn't respond right away.

OH HEAVEN FORBID THAT I DON'T RESPOND RIGHT AWAY!!!

Paypal put a hold on the $6. I submitted the tracking number to him and Paypal but Paypal won't lift the hold until HE lifts the complaint. How classic! :(

He challenged someone with 172 positives and two negative only one week after the auction closes?!?! I believe eBay actually gives you THIRTY DAYS to dispute an auction!

Idiots one and all. I remember when eBay was a good experience. But I guess they got too big and now anyone with access to the Interweb uses it to buy and sell.

I'm going to wait until the last day to leave him a negative feedback. Then he won't be able to get back on in time to leave me a negative in return. :D What's the time frame? Is it 15 or 30 days after the auction closes that you can no longer leave feedback?

EDIT: 90 days. Found it. Long wait, but worth it! :D

Supposedly the guy mailed the Seasonic back to me as requested. Never got it.. but he's already asking for his money back.

Asked for some sort of tracking... He doesn't have it. BUT HE HAS A RECEIPT THAT SHOWS HE MAILED SOMETHING!!! Oooh!!!!

This is getting good.

no money until you get the PS

it's his own fault for not paying the $1 tracking - sounds like a real pro

Well ultimately, it depends on what the guy ends up doing rather than speculation.

If he returns the item properly, and it was damaged during your shipment to him, refund time.

If he does a shoddy job shipping it back, it's your discretion.

Ultimately it matters on how much you value your feedback. If one negative doesn't put you in the hole too much, I wouldn't worry about pissing this guy off.

Assuming I ever see the power supply.. ;)

I don't mind taking the negative. Check this:

I have two negatives. Both as the BUYER. NOT the seller.

One, I accidently bid on an item. Yep. I was trying to be a slick sniper and clicked on an item two seconds before close and bid on the wrong item. Even though I told the guy I would pay for his listing fees X 2 (current and future listing) he said, "You need to learn from your mistakes." and gave me a neg.

The other one was a bobblehead I bought from a guy. He shipped it loose in a shoe box with no packing material. A CERAMIC FIGURE IN A SHOE BOX WITH NO PACKING MATERIAL!!!! I received it in 1000 pieces. I was so pissed, I left negative feedback before I even contacted him to tell him about what I received. He gave me a negative back. When asked why I didn't give him a second chance to redeem himself, I said, "Anyone that is SO STUPID, not ingnorant but STUPID, that they'd ship something like that with no packing material deserves as many negative feedbacks as they can get." :p
