Ebay selling question

Muse

Lifer
I sold an item on ebay almost 3 days ago and the buyer hasn't paid or answered my invoice email (sent through ebay). Tomorrow morning at 7:00 AM, it will have been 3 days. It was a cheap item, selling for under $20, but there was a lot of activity and sniping at the end, around 20 bids total. I expected the winner would probably pay me right away by Paypal, but didn't. I invoiced him after a few hours and have heard nothing.

What should I do if I'm not paid? The buyer has 100% positive feedback, but his feedback score is only 18. Should I send him another invoice now, wait until tomorrow morning or do something else?

you're gonna have to wait a few days before you can file a non paying bidder complaint. hopefully he'll pay....don't leave a negative yet, try calling him if you can.

After a certain amount of time, you can use eBay to send them a reminder. If they ignore that, too... file a non paying bidder action against the buyer. eBay will again try to contact them for payment. Then you can either relist it or make a second chance offer.

🙂

1. Check and see if he won any other auctions recently. Did he win two of the same item?
2. Give him until Monday to pay.

How can I see if he won any other auctions recently? I don't see that option in the member profile screen for him.

give them a few days - i've had people send payment after 7 days as they had gone away the day the auction ended

It's only been 3days. eBay policy is that you can file a NPB alert only after 7days and you can get the final value fee after another 7days.

OK, it's been a little over three days now. I suppose NPB alert is Non-Paying Buyer alert, my acronym sense tells me. So, I have to wait 7 days before doing that and then another 7 days until "final value fee." What's that?

I agree, the guy has probably just shined it on for the weekend and will probably come through next week. What's the protocol? Should I resend the invoice with a slightly different wording? Send him a little email cajoling him? Sit tight? He's 3000 miles from me, so I'm not gonna go knocking on his door.... 🙂

I'm curious about all this. For one thing, one of the bidders sent me a question before the auction closed asking if she could pay extra to get Priority Mail. My shipment method was going to be Parcel Post. Fact is, I underestimated the cost of shipping (I went to USPS rate determination site and somehow blew it), and I told her I'd be happy to accommodate her on that score. The bid list page lets the seller send a runner up a "Send Second Chance Offer". What's that about and under what circumstances can/should I do that?

Send another invoice, or reminder to the 1st invoice. Wait until the 7 day and file a NPB if you still haven't been paid or have not heard from them. If they have good feedback and are still alive you'll probably be all right.

just don't send anything. it is a pain in the ass. i had two non-paying bidders on my g4 iMac. thank buddha i didnt have to pay the seller fees. i finally just sold it on these boards. good deal.

don't send anything, stop freaking out.

Yeah, I'm not really freaking out. This is only my 4th or 5th auction, so I'm very green. I'm not really worried about it. I'll wait a day or two, and send a reminder if I don't hear from him. Then, if I don't hear after the 7 days I guess it'll be the NPB thing and take it from there. I just wondered about the alternative buyer thing, offering a runner-up a shot at it. How does that work?

Advanced Search->Items by Bidder->enter user name, check box that says "include completed listings"

Yes, that works. Thanks. This guy's been busy. Won about 21 auctions the last 30 days. Has positive feedback for them until items ending Feb. 10th, then none for the 11 items ending Feb. 12th and after. Maybe that's to be expected. He won 4 auctions the day he won mine. Patience, I believe, is in order.

This is no G4 Mac. This item is best sold on EBay, AFAIK. Not easy finding customers for this kind of item. To be truthful, I'm surprised I got as much interest as I did with this: Item

Related question: If I leave NFB for this guy, what's to stop him from leaving NFB for me, even if I don't deserve it? It seems to me that a lot of times people don't leave negative feedback or neutral feedback just because they are afraid of retaliation. Nobody wants to get other than positive feedback.
