So i sold a Microsoft office key for Mac home and students for $80 and then the buyer replies
'HEllo i am very disappointed because i received the item and the PRODUCT KEY IS NOT ACTIVATED FROM THE STORE THAT HAS BEING PURCHASED SO I GUESS ITS A STOLEN ITEM SO THEREFORE IM ASKING FOR MY MONEY BACK BEFORE I REPORT THIS PLEASE!'

Like wtf? how does he know if its stolen or not? what does he mean by 'PRODUCT KEY IS NOT ACTIVATED FROM THE STORE THAT HAS BEING PURCHASED'? how does he know what store i bought it from? Can someone help me out here? am i getting scammed or is he making shit up?

I have send him the card and the card inside which contains the 27 keys, the key is not scratched. Can someone help me out here? is he telling lies? Also the card is not stolen, i got it from my birthday.

"PRODUCT KEY IS NOT ACTIVATED FROM THE STORE AS BEING PURCHASED" is most likely what the person meant. Basically, they are saying the number is not active.

As an example using gift cards, you can grab as many as you want, but they are worthless until they are purchased and scanned into the system at the time of sale as being purchased.

I have no idea if that is how that particular software works, but that is the gist of what the person is claiming.

As a seller, even if you're right, you're wrong.

/Ebay

Who gave it to you for your birthday and where did that person get it? Did you get it from somebody who doesn't like you? Did you get it from an ignorant shoplifter who doesn't know about the activation?

Just respond that the key is indeed legit, and to sweeten the deal your are including a drawing of a spider that is valued at $233.95. Then attach a drawing of a spider.

From my experience with software, it doesn't work the same way as gift cards.

I've never see a Microsoft Product Key that was scratch off. Did you post a picture of said key on the ebay listing and have you used this key before?

I had someone insist on sending me a gift card for doing them a long distance favor, something like $25 iirc, but the card was no good. Since I didn't buy it my only option would be to send it back to the person and say its no good, which I didn't want to do. Perfect scam for a cashier, clumsy mistake, or gifter didn't really pay for it.

Did you keep any records like a photocopy of the card?

Maybe start by talking to MS CS.

I just had a legit PowerPoint that would not activate for several days. Finally I think nearly a week later it magically activated.
