ebay seller question

I just had an auction end on ebay. My auction was for US only, in the text of my 'ad' I said if you are not in US to contact me prior to bidding, thought being I wanted to encourage US bidders only but would consider Canadian bidders, shipping to Canada isn't that big of a deal.

Well lucky me someone from Portugal sniped the auction, they seem to have positive feedback and I'm considering following through with the sale. I think accepting PayPal is out of the question, but what form of payment would protect me the most. I cannot accept Visa/MC except through the eBay-pay-plan or whatever, not sure if that is foolproof or not.

Another option would be to either relist or go down the list of less successful bidders & offer to them.

Thanks for reading through all this 🙂

Cashiers check or Postal Money order...

either that or just file a non paying bidder claim to ebay explaining the situation and citing the description of your auction and then relist the item.

bidpay is pretty good for international orders...next time, put your policy on international bidders in your item's description

But if it had nothing, the Portuguese can't complain that you're changing your policy or anything...

international is out of the question because people will steal credit cards and have you ship to alternate adresses in another country. then after you ship, paypal pulls the funds back and your paypal acct is in the negative.

if you DO take paypal, accept payment from international verified and whatever they say only ship to the confirmed adress

yeah, either money order, bidpay, or maybe even escrow.com

as a last resort, you could accept paypal, with like a 1 month waiting period. also call paypal and ask them to confirm with the owner of the credit card that they ordered the item...

personally, as someone who has been burned, I will not deal with international buyers unless they can get me a US Postal Money order
