This is yet another fallacy. The only reason why ignorance is not an excuse is because the information is available to them, however what if they don't know where to find the information or it doesn't exist? Lets go back to the old lady; she didn't even know about email scams, so if she didn't know it existed then how could she know what to look for? That is what this thread is for: to inform. It was created so that the people who are aware of it would be reminded (by the title), to provide the exact verbatim of the email (for those who are curious), and for those who don't know to educate themselves.

To not inform yourself when you know the information exists would apply to ignorance not being an excuse.

However, if they are unaware of the information then you can not even talk about ignorance because it does not apply. (don't make me bust out with the thinking outside the box arguement)

Hmm ... let's see ... registration email from eBay ...

Remember, eBay will never ask you for your password! Do not give it out to anyone claiming to be an eBay or SafeHarbour representative.

You should really stop posting because I'm making you look quite foolish...

I prefer putting it in the sig of all of my emails. Makes it easier for the scammers....saves me from having to fill out forms.

Your first statement is the answer to the question...end of brainpower :)

It's amazing despite how many times people are told "Company X will never ask for your password or credit card information through email", but people still question whether the email is valid because it looks official.

it's quite obvious that mercenary4hire and conjur are jerks who have nothing else better to do than bash other members for their good intentions. Those these posts come up all the time and don't really add anything new, you people just just ignore them and move on yet you feel obligated to click the thread and respond? Do you not have anything else better to do? I wonder how many posts you 2 hve posted that's beneifted atot in anyway ever.

So someone who stays on forums long enough to be a lifer just feels obligated to show the "n00bs" how to act huh?

RIgorous1 was just trying to help and if it wasn't helping you then move on and get a life.

I beg to differ, their posts assist in the prevention of 'dumbing down' AT like every other politically correct arena out there. Hopefully the next person thinks about what they type, and perhaps searches for other posts just like theirs and find the same answer we will give in the repost.
