I posted an item a few weeks and i received a check from the person...but the item i posted was missing a few pieces and for the life of me i just couldn't find it. So i emailed the person and told him that i was sorry that i was missing the pieces and that I would either send him back his check or I would knock off the price and send him the item. he wanted the check back so I sent it out back to him.

Now he emails me and says that he has not received the money yet...but i did indeed send it out to him...what should i do?

How long since you mailed it out?

He should be able to call the bank and ask if the check has been cashed. He could also issue a stop payment request on it. As long as you never cashed it, it's no different then if he sent the check in the first place and it got lost in the mail.

yes but a stop payment costs like $15 bucks...so i guess it would depend on how much he was selling the item for.

A stop payment would cost the guy between 10-15 dollars. so......
you could wait a few weeks and if He doesn't receive it you could offer to pay for his stop payment, as to keep your e-bay rating in good standing.

it's been like about 2 weeks...and thats what i've been telling him...to check and see that i did not cash the check...

come to think of it...it might have been a money order...i'm not even sure, i didn't have the item together so i just left the check on my table until he responded to my email...he was very quick in the email department. but i did send it out right away after he replied to my emails. =\
