Ebay return problem

I don't do a lot of returns but I've done lots of business on Ebay, even sold stuff, but haven't in years.

I bought a DVD off Ebay on Xmas. Didn't do much research before doing so. Once I did I realized it wasn't a good idea for me. DVD was a Pan and Scan of Rob Reiner's "Misery." I didn't realize it was Pan and Scan until after buying it. There are a bunch of releases, it turns out best is Kino Lorber 4K BR, 2021 release. I ordered that off Amazon and initiated a return on the Pan and Scan DVD. IIRC, the seller's return policy was 30 days, buyer pays return shipping.

I initiated the return on Dec. 30. Got an email from eBay immediately saying:

You'll receive a return shipping label by Jan 5.

I never got that email with link to free shipping label. I did get a full refund for my purchase price via Paypal, which was under $10 including tax, shipping had been free.

I never opened the package of the DVD. I figured I'd put the promised shipping label over the one on the package and drop the package in a USPS mailbox.

AI had told me that would work.

AI had also had me thinking that the refund would be minus the cost of the to-me free shipping label, and that that would be less than the cost of buying a shipping label at USPS post office. Best of all, I figured that this arrangement would save me going in person to the post office.

At the moment I'm in limbo on this. I see nothing in my messages at Ebay or in emails from them telling me about sending the DVD back! I could message the seller, but that seems strange to me. Is there a way I can pay for an eBay shipping label and get linked to it so I can print it out at home? I don't see at Ebay a way to probe for a solution. I could just go to the post office and buy a label and be done with it. Is that the best idea?

Don't worry about it. I got a winch drum last year that was the wrong size. It was advertised as 85mm, and they sent the 57mm. I made three contact attempts to the seller, and got nothing but crickets. Contacted ebay, and I guess they tried contact, and after the short prescribed wait, they issued a refund.

I still have the wrong drum in a box ready to be shipped off, but it's coming up to the point the seller would have to pay me for my time. My statute of limitations has just about expired. Keep the dvd, and after a month or two, tell the seller to get fucked if he sends a label. After a couple months, the work detail gets archived, and extracting the archive constitutes work.

If the item was only $10, it probably isn't worth it to them to even get it returned. Costs more in time and shipping costs to even deal with the return.

I'd do as lxskllr recommends. Just hold onto it unless someone comes asking.

I got shipped the incorrect heating element for my dishwasher recently, told the seller this, they then shipped out the correct one. Never a whisper of having me send the other one back (but now, of course, I've got to figure out what to do with it). So yeah, I wouldn't sweat it too much.
When I got shipped the incorrect taishogoto from Japan last year, that one, they did ask if I'd just take a partial refund (which I did, in that case).

Bought a small kitchen scale off ebay Chinese seller several years ago. I already had ordered the same scale before a few times. Serves my needs. They can go bad. Water can and does get into the interior through the buttons on top. I routinely place thin transparent tape over the buttons to prevent this from happening. I like to have one on-hand for backup. I have given away at least one of these.

Well, the last one I ordered (which has been my day to day kitchen scale for I think at least 5 years now) has at least 5 settings, which you can go through be pressing the Mode button. Trouble is the writing on the scale to indicate what's chosen is in Chinese, not English, as it should be for American buyers. It was the seller's mistake. I complained and they resisted but at my insistence did credit me $2!!! 🙂
