I won an auction, paid within an hour of the auction ending and the seller is refusing to leave me positive feedback until I do it first for him. WTF? I paid him more than a week ago, the package is currently in route to me, but I hate sellers that demand positive feedback before recipricating.

When a buyer pays me, I usually leave positive feedback the same day I either a) recieve payment or b) ship out the product.

WTF is up with sellers like that? For being an "eBay Power Seller" his customer service hasn't responded to emails asking for an explanation why I should be the first to leave feedback. Well, there goes his positive feedback. I'll probably leave neutral.

Yeah I hate that too.

If I've paid then I have completed my end of the deal and I should recieve positive feedback.

I think people who dont leave feedback after recieving payment are being shady and just want to be able to leave retaliatory negative feedback if they mess up, and thier customers get mad.

I never post feedback until I recieve it.

If I don't recieve a feedback, I fire off an email hinting that they'll recieve nothing but praise(assuming thats what they deserve - haven't had any real problems yet)

The buyer usually then tells me, "Oh, OK!", or "Oh, I was waiting for you to leave it.." in which case I do, and they then leave theirs.. lol.. as long as it's confirmed that everybody is happy, I will go ahead and leave feedback.

I realize this may seem backwards to some, but.. that's how I do it. The transaction isn't over when they pay me, it's over when they have the merchandise and are satisifed with it.

As a seller, I'm not happy untill the customer is happy.

Therefore, I won't leave feedback untill the customer does letting me know they're happy.

I think it should basically work like that always, customer leaves feedback first.

Leaving feedback as a seller as soon as you get payment is foolish as the
transaction isn't over yet, and you leave yourself open to negative feedbacks for no reason
is the customer doesn't like your product even if you offer a refund, exchange, etc...

I don't leave feedback until the deal is done, I don't care if you paid .0000000000000000000000001 seconds after the auction. That doesn't mean you're not going to bitch about something later and make the whole thing a PITA.

That's something for me to ponder. I always left feedback as soon as I received payment. I never had a problem but I can see the potential for problems in doing that.

Thanks.

As a seller I always send a note when I get their payment saying something to the effect of:

Thank you for your prompt payment. Your item will ship on Tuesday xx/xx/xx via USPS Priority Mail. When you receive the item and are satisfied that it is as described and works properly please take a moment to leave me a positive feedback. After I see this posted I will know that you are pleased with the transaction and consider it complete. I will then leave you a positive feedback within 48 hours. If you have any issues with the item after it is delivered please contact me via e-mail as quickly as possible.

That sounds like a good idea, I should start doing that.. maybe it will cut down on missed feedbacks..

I once got a neutral with the comment, "NO COMMENT."

I paid the guy in 5 minutes, and the only reason he put that was because I complained about getting the wrong book. He gave me a refund and decided to take revenge by leaving a neutral.

How is it dis-honest? a buyer may decide to say its broken and want money back but refuse to send the item back and threaten with a negitive. etc.

I do not give a postive until i know the guy has the item and is NOT going to complain that it works etc Or if they leave me one first.

Umm, if the seller offers a complete refund and the buyer refuses, that's what I'd consider dishonest.

I hate the people who freak out about feedback. Maybe I'm too busy to leave feedback, maybe I just don't care... quit emailing me already.

I absolutely will not leave feedback for anyone unless they've left it for me. For one it's impossible to keep track of. By this, I mean that it's way more time efficient to go through once a month and check who has left feedback for you and reciprocate.

For another you have given away all leverage you would possibly have. I send an item to someone, they decide they don't like it and want to return it. Well, I've already left them feedback so they can use feedback to extort me to now take back a used item.

Also keep in mind that a transaction does not end with payment. A feedback describes your WHOLE experience with someone, not just that they paid you quickly.

Yes, honestly that's part of it. If your customer is ridiculously demanding like you or the OP I want to be able to retaliate.

I could care less if someone leaves feedback for me. If you do enough volume it's not worth the hassle and takes too much time.

I don't care about feedback either. I have more than enough as it is. I don't leave feedback either unless given it first since there are so many dishonest and messed up people on eBay. If you are a large volume seller, then I'm sure you know what I mean.

I usually leave buyers feedback after they pay. I guess I've been lucky in that buyers haven't tried to con me, but I try to disclose everything I can in the auction description

Ok i guess you are missing my point.

You are b!tiching about not getting a feedback whe you have yet to even get the item. As a seller why should i give you a feedback before i know if you are going to mess with me or not? If you leave feedback and they decide to mess with you then you are screwed.

86 is pretty good. After about 50 it doesn't make much of a difference. I used to put in my emails please email me when you get the item so we can exchange feedback. Nowadays, I take that out becuase I'd rather people not leave feedback because it makes it so I have more to do :)
