Im interested in buying a High-End Product on EBAY. I emailed the seller and asked for the serial #. Is there anyway online to check if the product is legit and not stolen? Just to be on the safe side

No, there is no way to tell if it is hot merchandise.
But if the price is too good to be true, there is a reason.

Lets say I buy the product, and somehow it stops working so i take it to a place that fixes it, and they find out that thru the serial # that the product is stolen. Can i go to jail.

If you knew it was stolen, yes. I'm not sure if you don't know if it's stolen or not. I'd say to be on the safe side, don't bid if you think it's stolen.

If you didn't know the item was stolen, I don't see how you could be put in jail. That just wouldn't make any sesne. You think they would go after the guy who sold you the stolen stuff.

I doubt you'd go to jail, as long as you could show you'd bought it off ebay. But if it's a stolen item and it's discovered in your possession, you would lose it without getting your money back.

It is called "receiving stolen property". If you have reason to believe it is stolen, you are guilty of it. I would not bid unless you can check with the manufacturer about the SN.
