So I got this motherboard off eBay. I left positive feedback.

Only then did I notice damage to the back of the PCB. The antistatic bag was torn/gouged, and the PCB is scratched (not shallow, not too deep, but enough to be more than noticeable).

I haven't tried installing the motherboard yet, but I'm thinking of getting it exchanged.

If I already left feedback, am I screwed? Is it completely up to the seller and how nice they feel?

Feedback has nothing to do with it. They still have to describe the product accurately. And eBay is pretty anti-seller lately, so if you were to file a claim there would be pretty much zero chance of you losing.

1. Test the board. It isn't against the rules to sell a motherboard with a scratch in it.
2. Contact the seller and tell them what's wrong.
3. File a claim if they aren't cooperative.

It's just a lot of work to install a motherboard and everything, only to have it not work, then have to backtrack and get new thermal paste etc.

Also, this damage looks like legitimate damage. I'll post a pic up later.

You don't need a case. Just set it on top of an anti-static bag on a hard surface.
You don't need thermal paste to test a board. Intel CPUs will throttle down if they get too hot.

What kind of feedback did you leave on sellers eBay page? And why in the world did you not check item's condition/if it works, knowing very well that it was used?
Good luck getting your money back after leaving a "positive feedback".

Apparently the guy is driving down to deliver a new motherboard in person, and I'm paying him gas money (10 bucks).
