Ebay question

I am trying to buy an item off ebay, it says "US only" but then also says "Will ship to Canada via USPS". But when I go to buy it, I get this message:

One or more of the items below cannot be purchased because the seller has not specified shipping costs to the location selected.

Change your address or remove the items to continue.
You may also contact the seller for an exception.

Any way to bypass that? It wont let me check out. I specified my address. If I try to contact the seller it wont let me. I tired both ebay.ca and ebay.com.

Am I out of luck?

Seller made a mistake in their auction.

And it looks like ebay has some wacked rule about this too - but probably put in place to protect sellers from spam.

Can you try this?

For those of you who are having trouble contacting sellers should click on "Other" at the bottom in the menu listing and then input your topic such as "Do you ship worldwide?" (Example) and you should get through. Wait patiently for a response from the seller at least by 2 to 3 days.

Yeah tried that, but it seems the seller has a setting set so you can't contact them.

Is there some kind of proxy shipping service I could use? Where it goes to a US address and they ship to me? Only thing is it would kinda be risky to do that.

I only get the generic questions/answers, but if I say "no" normally I'd get a form to contact the seller, but in this case, I don't get that.

If you have a trusted friend in the US, you might be able to add his/her address to your Paypal account and then make the purchase. But you'd better REALLY trust your friend.

I've sent him some questions about shipping and buying if you are from Canada. I will let you know his answers when he sends me something.

I checked the "other" box and it let me send him a message.

Cool thanks, guess because he is set to not ship to Canada it did not work for me. I just get a message saying he wont accept messages.

k np. Let me know when/if you do. They managed to find a way to source it here in Canada but it's like 5k so I'll wait and see what happens. My suspicion is he just set it wrong on his page as he does say he'll ship to Canada.

No answer as of today. You would think if he wanted to sell it, he would at least answer questions in a timely manner.

Yeah no kidding. Funny thing is, he got a few bids, but I'm actually wanting to just buy it now. Probably will more make money that way.

OP, you can't fix stupid and like most of the rest of the world ... we have our share of stupid.

Good luck ...

His answer finally came:

I'm sorry, we can't ship this expensive a unit to Canada. We usually do (for other items), but will not be for this item. If he's really interested, we have no problem shipping to you in the US and then you can ship to Canada.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Thanks
