ebay question

Ok, im looking at an auction, 5 bids total so far. the first 2 are 11 seconds apart(by the same person) and the last 2(by a different person than the first 2, but the same person) are 25 seconds apart...wtf is that? Is this guy just pumping up his price or what?

No, the way it works is if you type in a bid...say 1.50 but the high bidders max is at like 2.00...your bid will count, but then the other guys bid of 2.00 will immediately take place because that is the new high price.

He is correct.

isn't that what happens when you put in a max bid and someone bids but doesn't outbid your max? ie. Mr X proxy bids $20 but his bid is put in at $5 because that's how high the auction is at. Mr Y bids $10, so Mr X's bid of $12.50 automatically appears without Mr Y's bid ever appearing since he never had teh highest bid. So if you're looking at the bid history it looks like Mr X has bid twice.
