Ebay question: winning bidder dind't pay. What now?

I already left negative feedback. Waited 4 days, no payment no e-mails nothing. I think the buyer tried to scam me because as soon as the auction ended he e-mailed me, asking how much he owes me and to ship the item to the address he provided as soon as possible. I sent him the invoice and told him that I'll ship the item as soon as I receive the payment and he never replied.

Ok, that aside - I realize ebay is now going to charge me some fees for the ended auction. I remember there was a way to fill in non-paying bidder form so that I'm not charged those fees. But I can't figure out a way to do that for the life of me.

bad move leaving negative feedback that quickly ...

should have waited longer. maybe something serious happened to him or he has some kind of personal problem.

Well, if something serious happened to him, negative feedback would be the last thing on his mind. He e-mails me 10 minutes after the end of auction and then takes 4 days? I doubt that.

agreed, he did contact you after the auction. i would have at least given him a week to respond/make payment before leaving a negative.

it doesnt matter. negative feedback should be the LAST course of action taken. it is something that is permanent and permanently affects your account and your reputation on ebay. and these affects are bad. i would be very upset if i was a buyer and received negative feedback for not paying within 4 days, even if it stated on the auction that payment must be received within 4 days, because you never know what happens.

as a buyer, you are the one that is getting the most out of the deal since you wanted to make the money, so it is up to you to make the $$$ come in. giving negative feedback is not going to make that happen. now you are out the buyer fees and will have to relist it.

if i was him i would definitely not pay you for the item. also, ebay will not take your side if you claim him as a non paying bidder after 4 days.

EDIT: and i don't really use ebay to sell due to having too many issues like this happen, so my knowledge of the exact rules are not 100%.

This will help you recover your FVFs, you can relist and if it sells ebay will credit your 2nd listing fee, I think that's the correct, so hopefully you won't be out a cent after it's all over.

If you only waited 4 days past auction end to leave a negative, that's way too soon. If he sent a check or MO in the snail mail then you want to wait at least a week or more. There's always plenty of time for negatives, and they don't help you recover any fees, so try to use them carefully.

First, you can send an invoice. As he didn't respond, you can then send a payment reminder. If they don't respond within several days after that, you can then try & file a non-paying bidder claim. Ebay will try & get in contact with him/her during that time. All in all, it was too short of a time period to leave a neg.

Ok, I see your point. It just seemed to me like he was trying to take advantage of me. The item sold for higher than he could've had it - so it appears he tried to wiggle out of paying for it. Also that whole e-mail with shipping the item to him and asking what is the total was weird too. Ebay tells you what the total is - no need to ask (he has made prior transactions, so he's not a newbie). If anything, I"m the one losing here the most, since I lost the listing fees and 7 days of my time on an item that's gonna go down in price with time.

yea i understand you. buyers like that are what steered me away from using ebay to sell items. it sucks and there isn't too much you can do about it, not quickly atleast. and when i sell stuff, i sold it becuase i wanted the $$$ at that time, not weeks later when the buyer wanted to send it. i had enough so i basically never use ebay to sell anymore.
