im trying to change my ebay email address. im using a hotmail address and its asking for my credit card info for verification. here's what it says

Because you are using an anonymous e-mail address, we require you to provide us a credit cardfor additional verification. Please provide your VISA, MasterCard, Amex [US Only] or Discover [US Only] or JCB [Japan Only] credit cardinformation below. This information is used for registration purposes only. Your card will notbe charged or used for billing purposes.

is this normal?

I think it's pretty normal if you have one of those free email addresses.

i heard of so many ebay scams that im just wary about giving my CC # to ebay when i havent bid yet

yes. Paypal always asks you some type of account confirmation question. I take it you dont have a paypal debit card, if you did, you could just type in the account number off of that and be all set.

If you are still scared, you can just pm me your CC #, sid code, and billing zip code and I will handle the process for you.

(Please dont do that...I am kidding)

EDIT: OOPS...ebay is asking you for this info???? Why would ebay even have your CC# on file?

If you use an anonymous email with ebay, they request your CC info.

I think it's ebay's way of decreasing the amount of bogus sellers and or buyers. Ebay would quickly go to hell if a bunch of people could just make up new accounts every 5 minutes and have those accounts be virtually anonymous. There'd be a lot more fraud on ebay if that were permitted.
