Here's a blow-by-blow of my latest eBay purchase:

-I am NOT a Paypal Member
-I do NOT want to be a Paypal Member
-The battery cover on my Sony Ericsson T616 phone was damaged
-I searched for on eBay and bought an OEM faceplate for the Sony Ericsson T610
-Received said item and it was clearly NOT OEM as advertised
-I decided I wanted a refund, so I shipped the item back
-Get an e-mail today from the seller saying he is going to Paypal my refund
-How can he do that if I don't have a Paypal account?
-It seems, to get my refund, I have to sign up with Paypal...and I would prefer not to!

Is there any way I can get my refund without signing up for a Paypal account?

bidpay maybe?
or auctionpayments.com i think you might also be able to use
the refund process would suck, it takes a while to sign up for paypal, even if you wanted to do it that way.

How much did the faceplate cost?

in addition, Seems like a lot of time and energy spent just to avoid paypal.

But I admire your persistence.

does this guy sell a lot on ebay? it could be a generic response he sends out, or he didn't remember how you paid.

tell him you'd prefer a refund by the method you paid him with.

You could have the seller paypal the refund to a friend then then have the friend send you a check or pay in person.
