Ebay password question.

I received an email stating that my password to may ebay account may have been compromised. I went to log in (through ebay.com) and noticed my password no longer worked. I immediately changed it and do not see anything unusual on my account. Anyone else have this happen/ Is it common?

How did you change it if you couldn't log in? And are you 100% sure that the original email was from ebay.com?

I believe the message was from ebay. There were no links for me to follow so I just went to www.ebay.com. I just clicked the "Forgot Password" option at the sign in screen.

Also when i went to reset it, I put in my old password and it said I could not use a password that I have used before. I put in somehting differnt and all seems well.

ebay phishing scams here.

I searched the subkect and it didn't find anything. Thanks for the link though.

I have received other fake emails from ebay, etc. and never click on the lins. Most of those you can tell though. This one seems legit and since my password really didn't work I assume it was. Hopefully that's the end of it.

I didn't notice until after I searched. Well, it does resemble one of them. This one.
The Subject started out "TKO NOTICE: A27 eBay Password Reset". But there were no links in it.

Well, you werent trying to sign in with it, you were in the process of changing it and you were told that you could not change it to what it already was.

I don't follow.
1. I received the email. It had no links in it at all.
2. I went to www.ebay.com and tried to sign in. It said Incoorect password or somehting to that effect.
3. I did the Reset password deal.
4. When it prompted me to enter a new password, it would not let me enter my original password. It said it has to be different.

If it was a scam then ebay has to be in on it as I did all of this through www.ebay.com,

What I was trying to say is that the scammer forgot to insert a link into his email. That' my theory anyways.

I gotcha. Well, I sent it to spoof@ebay.com. After talking with the Live Chat people they said it sounded fishey but since it didn't have a link he was puzzled also. I'll update.

And if it was a scam, I don't see what they accomplished. They had already changed my password and could access whatever they wanted (not that I have anyhting worthy in the ebay info). Then they really wouldn't need to send me a message????
