Ack. removed link. Sorry about that. Even if I am mean, I don't want unknown people bombarding my mailbox....

+ I already reslisted the item after being so angry at the bidder. I am considering pulling it down if I get the second bidder to buy it.

Thanks for letting me know about the e-mail thing.

I removed the links.. I don't think anyone can actually get the e-mail addys from the ebay IDs though, you have to communicate with ebay as the go-between, and whoever spammed him would have left their info too..

You still might be able to work it out, you'd still have negatives but could have him leave the positive followup comment by it after transaction is complete.

ack yo-ma-ma.. I think you want to remove those links... especially the one to the bidder...

Don't want his mailbox to be spammed becoz i was ranting...

I actually thinkyou might be right, but Fedex charged me for a 28 lbs package.

Oh wait. I recall why. They also take something called the dimensional weight, which takes in the size of the box into account(Takes the maximum of the two: either the dimensional weight or the actual weight). Something I learned after seling quite a bit of stuff...

follow ebay's procedure for non-paying bidder. after 72hrs, a reminder email is sent, after I believe 10 days you can request a refund on the auction charges. You have to follow that procedure though to be refunded, then leave him negative feedback.

Dimensional weight is the suk....
I see it as a quick way for Money to leave my wallet.... That was what killed me on the thing to the UK.
It was a large framed poster. only 20 lbs fully packed... but large :frown:

after selling on ebay for awhile i realize that bidders are complete idiots. noone reads the auction descriptions and noone comprehends emails. i wish they weren't willing to pony up so much dough, or i'd never trade on there.

While I agree that the bidder agreed to the terms when the bid was placed, I do think your shipping was too high. Greed is an ugly beast.

Agreed. <--- Last days of selling... hope I don't have to go through all this again.......

You do know you can only leave feedback within 30 days of the auction's end, right? So, if you posted negative feedback at 29 days and 58 minutes, the window of opportunity would close in 2 minutes and the "reciever" of the feedback would be unable to respond except in his own feedback area, not post to yours if I'm reading their rules correctly.

I think the buyer gets to leave feedback within a time frame of 45 - 60 days... coz I've just had feedback from someone who bought an item from me on Jan 19th.... 😀

Might try for the squaretrade after all. I consulted this with a few friends and they said I probably should since I wasn't completely in the wrong and he just pushed everything on me. Hate to see my record blemished by such people everytime i look at my feedback...

Guys... pls don't e-mail the bidder... he actually reported me to Qquaretrade about reporting him on a forum and slandering him. Linky

I don't wish anyone to be sued for harassment or anything, so let the matter rest. I appreciate everyone's effort on this.

Thanks.

I've been in the bidder's position: Bid for a semi-cheap, light item, assuming the shipping would be between $5-7 and then some fat shipping and handling fee gets tacked on making it $10-15. I send the guy an email explaining that I misread (or misunderstood) the posting shipping charges but will honor my bid and pay them anyway. I'm a strong opponent of unreasonable shipping/handling fees and a big fan of folks that will work with me to get the auction finished. I guess I miss the "good ol' days" when ebay was much less "business" oriented.

I guess we all have had some experience selling stuff and ebay's charges sometimes become too high such that I have to stick with the shipping to earn back what I spent on the item...
Ebay runs a service, you're using the service, you're paying to run an auction. Naturally, as a bidder, I don't want to be paying your fees for you. If you want to guarantee you get your money back, I'd recommend a reserve price. My gut doesn't feel good about charging extra handling just to cover your costs.

Had you just given him a negative for refusing to pay the shipping fees, all would be well. You may have gotten a retalitory negative eval, but I hear there may be ways to have SquareTrade remove it.

I guess so. I believe in one thing: an argument doesn't start from one side. Naturally I don't think it's his fault completely, but sometimes I'm compelled to. I was really angry this morning becoz' of the whole incident.

I'm trying to offer him a truce right now n see how it goes. If everything goes well, then let it be, else, I guess it's a lesson to him and to myself as well 😀

you could have used their 2nd chance thingy. that offers it to the next person who placed a bid under the winning bidder.

I say, go the non-paying bidder route. As much as high shipping sucks, not honoring your bid and taking your lumps when you make a mistake is worse. He's got to know that it's his responsibility to

For the record (and I'm sure you don't care 😉 ) but to me the auction descrip was a bit excessive. Personally, when I bid, I'll scan through the item descrip (yes, I do misread things sometimes) and pick out the important bits (condition, warranty, payment, shipping) My thoughts to clean it up a bit:

-- take out the FAQ (could include that in the winner's email)
-- Pare down the specs, leaving things like viewable size, inputs, resolutions, etc then give a link to dell or a manufacturer's site for more info. It takes up a large amount of space and shares a relatively small amount of relevant info. You've got the highlights up top.
-- Split your terms (and?) conditions into payment and shipping. Could leave out the "By bidding... and will oblige" as that's part of ebay's rules when bidding. Likewise, with the next line. I would change the next line to something like "If you have a feedback rating of lower than (x), please contact me before bidding."
-- Call me anal, but I'm not a fan of "Bid Now!", L@@K!, Bid with confidence, etc. I could easily be wrong, but ebay already provides that sort of information for you.
-- Consider making an "About me" page (assuming they still allow that) where you can list you previous feedback and/or any particular things you'd like each and every bidder to know.
