OK, the auction ended on the 26th (Monday). I sent him an invoice as soon as the auction was over ($320, with option to pay by PayPal, eBay Payments, or Money Order). I hear nothing from him for 2 days. Finally, on 28th (Wednesday night) he tells me that his email was screwed up and that he was sorry. OK, I can understand that. He said that he would send payment on Thursday. I get an email on Thursday night saying that he sent a cashier's check on Thursday morning. OK, fine.

Friday, Saturday, Monday goes by (holiday), Tuesday, Wednesday, and Today still no check. I sent him an email on Tuesday and another one on Wednesday and have heard nothing back from him yet. I still haven't sent the package off of course.

What should I do now?? I was thinking of getting on eBay to see where he lives at to see why it was taking so long for the check to get here. I mean, if his address is right near NC, there should be no excuse...but if it's out in CA, I'd give him a couple more days.

Any ideas??

Give him a few more days. Standard USPS service can be slow every now and then.

I'd give him through tomorrow for the mail to be delivered first.

It appears that his zip code is 92620. I'll give him some more time I guess.

I'd wait at least another week before filing a non paying bidder claim. A week especially with a holiday in it is hardly enough time especially as slow as USPS has gotten as of late.

i ususally give 10 business days after the auction for the person to send payment. This provides adequate time for them.

Oh man, don't get me started on the USPS. Whenever I see a Mail-Carrier Truck its either:
1) Parked near the Beach and driver sleeping
2) Parked under a tree and driver sleeping
3) Parked near a convience store or deli and eating/drinking

Now I understand the concept of Lunch and Breaks, but its like these trucks don't move period. Mail comes close to 5 almost everyday, packages are crumpled, torn, stained, and missing. And they have the nerve to raise postage claiming people just aren't using the mail as much as they do. I really wonder why...

And if anyone would like to here my gripes with UPS Ground, feel free to ask... :)

Well, that really does sound like enough time, but wait a couple more days to be sure. Irritating that he isn't replying to most of your e-mails... ask if he will e-mail or FAX a scan of his cashier's check.

Not everyone on eBay is computer savvy, leaving their computers on 24/7 and having an auto e-mail checker. By wary folks. I wouldnt be suprised at people who check e-mail once every other day. I usually wait 7 Business days for them to send payment and give another 5 business days to wait for payment (max of 12 business days). I have never had to wait more than 5 business days for payment, and once some eBay bidder sent the payment with USPS Express OVERNIGHT (I was like omfg... thats $10 down the drain).

Good idea. Since zip code 92620 belongs to Irvine, CA I'd give him at least another week. Lately USPS first class mail has been a little slow. There is of course Monday Labor Day and Sundays which slow things down a little.

If you have his home or business phone number you could always find his address by using a reverse lookup search.

If you are going to bid on an item on eBay, it is your DUTY to check your emails and keep in close contact with the buyer/seller until the transaction is fully complete IMHO. That's why I always stay on top of things when I buy/sell something. This is the first time I've had to deal with waiting so long for payment and not getting emails answered back (and this is after around 50 - 60 transactions on eBay).

Screw this money order business. I'm just going strictly PayPal/Billpoint from now on.

7 days. IIRC you have to wait around 2 weeks to get your final value fees back.

I for one dont understand the way they do business.

Seller tries to sell say, a $10,000 70' Chevelle. Ebay wants their life story.
Buyer wants to buy said $10,000 Chevelle. All they need is an e-mail.

Naturally, I havent had any non paying bidders since I added my: "pay me or i'll sue you clause" :D

Oh, and you can file an alert IIRC after 3 days. After the alert is filed, you have another like 5 days to do the non paying bidder warning.

USPS must be slow lately, I bought 2 CDs off of eBay and mailed the payment on 8-26 and the guy says he still hasn't got the payment.

OK, Friday and Saturday went by, and still no check in the mail.

He contacted me Thursday night and said he was sure it would have been here by now and that he would cancel the cashier's check and send me PayPal at the LATEST on Friday morning. Friday morning comes and goes, Friday night comes and still no money PayPal'd to me. He sends me an email early Saturday morning saying that he got the cashiers check stopped with Bank of America and it cost him $40 to do so...uhh, OK. He then says again that he will send the PayPal ASAP (and then tells me thanks for understanding...heh, yeah...). Saturday goes by, still no PayPal. It's Sunday afternoon now and still no PayPal. It's been almost 2 weeks since the end of the auction:eek:

Now what?

Give him a deadline of 4 days. If no payment leave a negative and relist. Stuff happens....

Brandon, you cant stop payment on a cashiers check. Not until after 90 days.
