Ebay: Is there anything at all I can do to avoid getting a retaliatory negative?

I have a non-paying bidder that's been a huge headache to deal with and who refuses to even acknowledge any of my emails. I haven't been able to get in touch with him by phone either, at this point I'm willing to take the hit on the listing/final value fees and leave him a negative for not paying. I have since relisted and sold the item since it was time-sensitive. Is there any way I can be assured that he doesn't leave me a negative out of retaliation?

I've skimmed through Ebay's policy and it looks like they don't moderate the feedback and basically I'm on my own if he decides to post a negative. Is this correct? Any other ideas or suggestions in getting this deadbeat to cooperate?

IIRC you can petition feedback to e-bay, and in your situation I would think it would get removed.

Outlook appointment set. I'll try and work things out with him by bugging him every week. If that fails he gets a negative on day 89, and email revenge a few days later :p.

You can try but it's not guraunteed. I have 3negs for NPBs, one even has a rating of -3 now.

They say they'll remove feedback only under exceptional circumstances. Unfortunately NPBs seem to be far from exceptional on eBay :disgust:

Just make sure to file a NPB report, 3 strikes and they're out so the neg gets converted to a neutral. I forgot for the guy with the -3 (he had zero feedback when I was dealing with him) so the neg stays on.

As a seller I just feel like I can't trust another seller who has perfect feedback, makes me wonder how they are running business to completely avoid it.

Leave it at the last minute so before he can see it and respond it's already left
