yeah, but it takes like 4 days to get paypal verified and another 4 to transfer money from their bank account, so by that time i would have gotten their stupid money order anyway

Yeah, easy solution. Just email them and tell them to setup a PayPal account. No need to get all worked up over it ;)

I think you need some form of service charge - or hassle fee for accepting the money order.

I had to do that with someone but they did it, and it worked out fine in the end. Still a pain though.

Trust me, if thats your problem with ebay, you got off very light. Just get a money order, no biggie. Less fees too.

I could go into a story about a psychotic buyer I'm dealing with now, but Ill spare you all.

A few years back, I was selling some software and clearly indicated in my description that I would only ship the item within the U.S. It figures that someone from Ontario would win the bid.

Just email Rumsfled to take over the igloo housing projects and you'll be shipping within the US in no time. No biggie.

Thats the easiest way, but they will rape you in terms of fees, boxes etc.

If you have the box the case came in, thats a start, but be sure to pack THAT box inside another box. Shipping a computer is very fragile, so you really do need to double box it.

Question: should these not be details to know prior to selling the item on eBay?

(why do I have eerie feeling someone should make a note about purchasing insurance as well?)

A lot more than it would cost to do it yourself. A large box big enough for a comp could run $5 or more, the inner box $5 or less, peanuts very expensive, and it will plain and simple cost you more to ship than if you did it yourself. In a rut I've had to ship a small package quick at a ups store (I assume you are talking about an "authorized shipper), and it cost $15-20 on a package that should have been $7, max.

4 days if you're lucky, often 10 days or more. sometime lost and takes another 20 days cause that buyer will check to see if you have cash it out or not, buhahahaha!!! This suckers are so troubling and hardly ever worth anyone's time. The only advantage is that they are paying the mo fee and you pay no transaction fee but the wait or the lack of good service makes it suck. oh have i forgot you got to run to the bank just to deposit these dumb mo/personal checks, there's no reason to do it right away probably wait a few weeks when you have time, these small amount is worthless :(

a psychotic buyer? does he says "need feedback real bad, will kill anyone or you to get one(too much doom3?)" someone on ebay community freaked out and wanted to report this bidder to the authority, lol. too much weed? on crack? fvcked up in the head? :D
seriously, this guy is likely to live across the country from his seller, yea right he'll drive all the way to your house, get lost on the way and who knows, might end up in netherland doing so without even paying attention to direction due to his mental illness. some people have no common sense, their just as stupid as this pyschotic guy and get scared too easily out of their pants, I mean come on... this dude is not even being realistic at all(obviously joking and really stupid).

I sell a camera to someone. He uses buy it now, and then start asking me a million questions. I do my best to satisfy him. He pays me at 1 in the morning tuesday. When I wake up tuesday, he's already bugging me for a tracking number. I tell him that like everyone else his package will get packed the day I receive payment, and then picked up the next day. He says he's fine with that, but keeps bugging me cause he's going out of state on sunday.

So I have it picked up on thursday. USPS takes 2-3 days. He doesnt get it on saturday, and blames me personally. Then he files a paypal claim AFTER 2 DAYS. Gives me negative feedback, and starts to go psycho in emails. A choice sample:

"I am sorry it is TOO late ! I have filed! And I probably won?t the package for awhile I am relocating to the west coast and not coming back!!! That is why I was animated about sending the package the same day ! I would of gladly paid an extra amount to receive the item faster! But you would not honored it! This concludes this our conversation! I asked YOU to respond ASAP and it took forever for you to reply. I asked you to ship this item on Wednesday and YOU refused!!! NOW DO YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT THE PROBLEM IS! Now deal with the consequences!"

Of course which is a total lie. He thinks the world revolves around him, and I never agreed or denied anything. I told him what I was going to do, and he said just fine. So I assume that the package is going to get sent back to me, and I'm going to be assed out of the shipping fee, the listing fee, every other fee, and on top of that, a negative feedback. If I'm lucky, I might not even get the camera back.

If you need something so bad, for the love of god, buy it in a store, not ebay.
